Abstract:Grain production space, ecological service space and urban-rural development space are the spatially explicit cognition and classification of land systems from the perspective of functional utilization. The mutual transition of the three reflects the trade-offs of human society on the functions of land systems, leading to changes in land systems characterized by the expansion of urban-rural development space, the reconstruction of grain production space, and the contraction of ecological service space. Grain production space reconstruction concentrates the main contradictions of land system changes, and is the key to exploring the transformation and effect of land systems. Therefore, this study systematically sorts out and summarizes the connotation, pathway, process and driving mechanism of grain production space reconstruction by establishing a system analysis framework, and explains the enlightenment that the research on grain production space reconstruction can bring to sustainable development. As an important part of land system transition, grain production space reconstruction covers three dimensions: quantity, quality and pattern, which is mainly realized through the pathways of Urban Expansion, Land Improvement, Deforestation & Reclamation, and Grain for Green. The reconstruction process can be divided into four phases: expansion, contraction, degradation and intensification; at different phases, the performance characteristics, key dimensions and main pathways of grain production space reconstruction are different. Factors such as institutional reform, policy adjustment, capital investment, location improvement, technology advances, population migration, cognitive shift, and cultural diffusion drive the reconstruction of grain production space through the mechanism of community crisis response and individual interest induction. From the perspective of social economy-land use-ecological environment coupling, systematic research on grain production space reconstruction can coordinate the relationship between grain production, ecological protection and high-quality development, contribute to territorial space planning, and promote rural revitalization and urban-rural integrated development.
