Abstract:Whether the raw materials needed by the production enterprise can be supplied in time is related to the normal operation of the enterprise. This paper establishes mathematical models based on TOPSIS and Goal Programming, which puts forward an idea and scheme for enterprises to select a reasonable number of suppliers based on suppliers’ supply characteristics and their own needs of raw materials to ensure normal production. According to the order quantity and supply quantity data of 402 raw material suppliers of an enterprise in recent 5 years searched from Yahoo website, three characteristics that can reflect the total 402 supplier’s supply capacity are constructed based on TOPSIS method: supply rate, supply time and total supply, and further top 50 suppliers are selected. Moreover, Goal Programming is adopted to deduce the least 13 suppliers required to supply raw materials for enterprises and the corresponding selection plan.

Abstract:Ordering and shipping of raw materials is a very important part of a company’s production operations. How to properly arrange the scheme to minimize the transportation and ordering cost is a great concern for enterprises. In this paper, two related models are proposed for the C problem of the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling: a supplier evaluation model based on Entropy Weight Method, TOPSIS Algorithm and other methods, and an ordering and transportation target planning model based on seasonality analysis and other methods. The former establishes seven supplier importance evaluation indexes based on quantitative analysis from two perspectives of supplier supply capability and business enterprise closeness, analyzes the influence weights of the seven indexes by Entropy Weight Method, and uses TOPSIS Algorithm to calculate the rating ranking of each supplier. The latter is based on the contribution rate of goods, material selection tendency, and corporate interest as the primary factors for enterprises to determine the scheme under different circumstances, and the future supply and demand is predicted through seasonal analysis to establish a target planning model to determine the shopping scheme.

Abstract:A two-period model is proposed to investigate optimal combined purchasing strategies for a risk-averse manufacturer in an environment of uncertain raw material prices.The manufacturer can buy raw materials via option contracts,or from a spot market.The research results show that the optimal options purchasing quantity is influenced by the degree of risk aversion,the option premium and the exercise price.The relationship between the optimal purchasing quantity and the degree of risk aversion is affected by option prices.And the optimal purchase quantity decreases as the option premium or exercise price rises.Finally,it is demonstrated by comparison that the mean-variance utility of the manufacturer can be improved by using a combined purchasing strategy.

Abstract:In traditional Chinese medicinal production, a high degree of batch-to-batch reproducibility is required to achieve successful batches that meet the quality standard of traditional Chinese medicinal preparations (TCMPs). In this paper, multivariate statistical process monitoring (MSPM) based on chromatographic fingerprinting has been introduced to evaluate the batch-to-batch reproducibility of TCMPs. A commonly used TCMP product, Sheng-Mai-Yin (SMY) oral liquid, is selected as a typical example to demonstrate the feasibility of this approach. A number of batches are prepared through normal operation procedures to simulate the common-cause variations induced by preparation days, herb materials, and operators. Another number of abnormal batches are designed to simulate different types of deviations, including the changes of herb material quality attributes and abnormal operation conditions. The high-performance liquid chromatographic fingerprinting is used to construct the integrative pattern of SMY products. A principle component analysis model is established of the fingerprint data of the normal batches. Multivariate (Hotelling T-2 and DModX) control charts are successfully applied to monitor the abnormal batches. As an effective multivariate analysis method in this study, MSPM based on chromatographic fingerprinting promises great applications in batch monitoring and evaluation for the production of TCMPs.

Abstract:Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) products are usually manufactured through batch processes. To improve the batch-to-batch reproducibility, practical approaches for the real-time monitoring of batch evolution need to be developed. In-line near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy combined with multivariate statistical process control (MSPC) method, as an efficient process analytical technology, is presented for the real-time batch process monitoring. Two representative TCM technical processes, the alkaline precipitation of the compound E-Jiao oral liquid and the liquid preparation process of Tanreqing injection, were taken as examples. The NIR spectra collected in-line was "variable-wise" unfolded into two-dimensional matrix, and multi-way principal component analysis (MPCA) model were developed based on the rearranged data of the normal operation condition (NOC) batches. Three kinds of multivariate control charts (PC scores, Hotelling T-2 and DModX) were used to monitor the evolution of test batches with artificial batch variations, including the change of starting material quality attributes and abnormal operation conditions. As illustrated with test batches, the established model can identify NOC or AOC (abnormal operation condition) batches accurately, and detect different kinds of deviations from NOC batches using these control charts. The results indicated that the NIR-based multivariate process trajectories can reflect the batch-to-batch reproducibility effectively, and can also help for the diagnosis of the failure batches in the TCM production. Abstract:With the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry and the diversification of production methods of agricultural machinery and equipment, external purchase, external coordination, and self-made products continue to increase. If agricultural machinery manufacturing enterprises want to maintain maximum benefits in the fierce competition, they must pay attention to the collaborative procurement decision-making model and the relationship between production, supply, and marketing, and seek a comprehensive dynamic sustainable procurement strategy under the supply chain environment. In this paper, from the manufacturers of agricultural machinery manufacturing enterprises, firstly, three procurement strategies based on line-side inventory supply, third-party logistics supply, and dynamic sustainable supply are studied respectively, while a system dynamics model of collaborative procurement strategy for the agricultural machinery supply chain is constructed and the three procurement strategy models are simulated and analyzed Secondly, the simulation results are analyzed to establish the measurement indexes for evaluating sustainable procurement model matching, and a procurement model matching measurement model based on the topological superiority of object elements combined with the topological hierarchical analysis method and CRITIC comprehensive assignment method is proposed to determine the index weights. And using the correlation function calculation, we get the comprehensive superiority ranking of procurement patterns and the correlation comparison of individual indicators and output the optimal procurement matching pattern and pattern recognition degree. Finally, an application example is given to verify the correctness and practicability of the proposed decision-making model, to provide a qualitative and quantitative dynamic sustainable procurement multi-attribute decision-making tool for the procurement management of agricultural machinery equipment manuf- cturing enterprises.

Abstract:How to deal with the contradiction between scale production effect and customized demand is the key problem on studying mass customization (MC). When MC is operating in supply chain environment, on one hand, the excellent operating character of the supply chain will give conditions for solving this problem. On the other hand, it will bring out several complicated contradictions and increase the difficulties of the analysis and research on the supply chain operating and scheduling, so it is important to settle the contradictions. Based on our earlier work, the dominant contradictions of the supply chain scheduling in MC and the ways to relieve them are briefly summarized in this paper. A dynamic and multi-objective optimization mathematical model and the appropriate solving algorithm are set up by introducing these relieving methods into the operating process. It is pointed out that the characteristics of the model and algorithm cannot only reflect the unique operating requirements for this special production mode, but also merge with the thought of relieving the dominant contradictions. The feasibility of the model and algorithm in practical application to improve the scheduling efficiency and to settle the key problem mentioned above ultimately gets validated through the analysis of an application case we followed and through the algorithm simulation of a numerical scheduling case.

Abstract:This study applies analytic hierarchy process (AHP), 0-1 integer programming and other systematic programming models, combined with the needs of manufacturers to build a set of mathematical models to help manufacturers select suppliers, control raw material ordering costs, and transporting costs. As the production costs of products is linked to the ordering and transporting of raw materials, manufacturers need to choose suitable raw material suppliers and develop the most economical ordering and transporting schemes with the most negligible loss so as to improve profits and enhance the market competitiveness. Taking a building and decorative plate enterprise as a case, this model shows that AHP can effectively quantify the supplying characteristics of suppliers and obtain a list of high-quality suppliers. LINGO software combined with linear programming can be used to obtain the optimal weekly ordering and transporting schemes, thus reducing the raw material ordering costs and transporting losses. It is shown from the results that the production costs of enterprises from the source can be reduced so as to improve their cost control system. The present study seeks to fill the gap in ordering and transporting raw materials for manufacturers to control production costs. At the same time, this model provides references for producers who have the demand for processing raw materials and play a significant role in controlling production costs.

Abstract:The purpose of this study is to strengthen the procurement management of public hospitals and ensure the quality of medical equipment. In this paper, combined with the procurement process of medical equipment in public hospitals, on the basis of RFID technology, a JRP model of random demand for medical equipment procurement in public hospitals is established. At the same time, according to the type and quantity of decision variables, the DE solution algorithm is redesigned, and based on the support of the algorithm, a mathematical model for cost control of medical equipment procurement in public hospitals is established. It can be seen from the analysis results that the cost control system for medical equipment procurement in public hospitals based on the mathematical model proposed in this paper can play an important role in public hospital equipment procurement and promote the standardized operation of public hospital procurement management.

Abstract:Manufacturing firms operating in today’s competitive global markets must continuously find the appropriate manufacturing scheme and strategies to effectively meet customer needs for various types of quality of merchandise under the constraints of short order lead-time and limited in-house capacity. Inspired by the offering of a decision-making model to aid smooth manufacturers’ operations, this study builds an analytical model to expose the influence of the outsourcing of common parts, postponement policies, overtime options, and random scrapped items on the optimal replenishment decision and various crucial system performance indices of the multiproduct problem. A two-stage fabrication scheme is presented to handle the products’ commonality and the uptime-reduced strategies to satisfy the short amount of time before the due dates of customers’ orders. A screening process helps identify and remove faulty items to ensure the finished lot’s anticipated quality. Mathematical derivation assists us in finding the manufacturing relevant total cost function. The differential calculus helps optimize the cost function and determine the optimal stock-replenishing rotation cycle policy. Lastly, a simulated numerical illustration helps validate our research result’s applicability and demonstrate the model’s capability to disclose the crucial managerial insights and facilitate manufacturing-relevant decision making.

Abstract:Medical resources scheduling affects the medical institution's operation cost, customer satisfaction and medical service quality. Therefore, a lean arrangement of medical resources order and shipment is quite necessary and important. In this chapter, we propose two optimal models for medical resources order and shipment in community health service centers (CHSCs), with a dual emphasis on minimizing the total operation cost and improving the operation level in practice. The first planning model is a deterministic planning model (DM). Systematically, it considers constraints including the lead time of the suppliers, the storage capacity of the medical institutions, and the integrated shipment planning in the dimensions of time and space. The problem is a multi-commodities flow problem and is formulated as a mixed 0-1 integer programming model. Considering the stochastic demand, the second model is constructed as a stochastic programming model (SM). A solution procedure is developed to solve the two models and a simulation-based evaluation method is presented to compare the performances of the proposed models. The main contributions of this study include the following two aspects: (1) most research on medical resources allocation studies a static problem taking no consideration of the time evolution and the time-varying demand. In this study, time-space network technique is adopted to depict the logistics situation in CHSCs from both time and space dimensions. (2) The logistics plans in response to the deterministic demand and the time-varying demand are constructed as a 0-1 mixed integer programming model and a stochastic integer programming model, respectively. The optimal solutions can not only minimize the total operation cost, but also improve the order and shipment operation in practice. Generally, medical resources in CHSCs are purchased by telephone or e-mail. The important parameters in decision making, i.e., order/shipment frequency and order quantity, are manually determined by the decision maker based upon his/her experience. The planned schedules may not be efficient or feasible to satisfy all demands since a large portion of customer requests are uncertain and time-varying. The proposed methods in this chapter could be effective in solving the problems in actual operations.

Abstract:OBJECTIVEThis paper adopts advanced information technology to manage medical supplies, in order to improve the medical supplies management level and reduce material cost.METHODSIt develops a Medical Supplies Management System with B/S and C/S mixed structure, optimizing material management process, building large equipment performance evaluation model, providing interface solution with HIS, and realizing real-time information briefing of high value material's consumption.CONCLUSIONThe medical materials are managed during its full life-cycle. The material consumption of the clinical departments is monitored real-timely. Through the closed-loop management with pre-event budget, mid-event control and after-event analysis, it realizes the final purpose of management yielding benefit.

Abstract:Inventory of raw materials is very important to the manufacturing companies. In reality, some manufacturing companies always adopt multiple transportation methods and one method is dominant. In this situation, it is important how to decide the amount of each transportation methods. When the dominant transport methods encounter failures, companies can use other auxiliary method to transport raw materials. This paper is to study a manufacturing company which gets raw materials by railway or truck. We divide the long plan period into several cycles, analyze the transport delays because of accident, and develop a non-linear programming model. This model can be solved by enumeration. An example of this model is presented and it is proved to be effective to lower the total cost of logistics.

Abstract:Focusing on the development and quality improvement strategy of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) industry, the scientific and technological innovation of the new engineering of TCM should be paid attention to solve the "stuck neck" dilemma. Under the background of the ecological and industrial revolution of the scientific and technological innovation system, the super-scale information interaction and multi-dimensional integration will inevitably lead to profound changes in the manufacturing mode of TCM. Manufacturing measurement of TCM is formed on the basis of the reliability engineering theory of process control of TCM production. It is the development extension of system theory and system science ideas and a cross-fertilization discipline that combines theory with practice and adheres to the "four-oriented" re-epistemology improvement of the TCM discipline. In response to the problems of complex raw material sources, coarse process technology, unclear material basis, and poor applicability of equipment and technology in the manufacture of TCM, the transformation research mode of "aiming at the integration of pharmaceutical industry-developing intelligent production line-enabling industrial transformation" has been developed. This paper proposed the four key engineering technical problems, i.e., the identification of critical quality attributes(CQA) in the manufacture of TCM, the quality by design(QbD) and product development of the manufacturing process of TCM, the quality transfer principle and multivariate process capability index of TCM manufacturing, and the development of measurement technology and equipment of the manufacturing measurement of TCM, to achieve the systematization of quality control indicators, real-time process control, digitalization of manufacturing process, transparency of quality transfer, and intelligent whole-process control. In this paper, the new concepts, new theories, and new technologies provide a reference for the industrialization of TCM.
