Abstract:The failure to a solution to the difficulty in obtaining loans for small and micro en‐terprises produces negative effects on the realization of national strategy of mass entrepreneurship and innovation .There is little relevant empirical research on default risks ,one of the main prob‐lems ,because it is difficult to obtain the micro data of this specific group .Using the loan-level da‐ta from a regional branch of one large state-owned commercial bank ,this paper tests the determi‐nants of credit default for the small and micro enterprises .It arrives at the following conclusions :firstly ,larger amounts of money and higher credit rating respectively lead to smaller default probability ;secondly ,financing for the purpose of liquidity ,international trade ,and domestic trade have respectively significant positive effects on the default probability ;thirdly ,the firm’s industry exerts some significant influences on the default probability ;fourthly ,the default proba‐bility of state-owned enterprises is significantly higher ;fifthly ,term ,rates of bank credit ,and scale of small and micro enterprises have no significant effects on the default .These findings pro‐vide meaningful clues and routes for the solution to the difficulty in obtaining loans for small and micro enterprises .It also plays a real promotion role in risk control of commercial banks ,healthy development of small and micro enterprises and funding channels of small and micro enterprises dredged by regulatory authorities .
