Abstract:Technological diversification is the key to obtain competitiveness advantages, however, the research on the factors of technological diversification is scare. This paper takes advantages of provincial panel data to study the factors to promote technological diversification. The results indicate internal R&D and external technology ac-quisition can increase the degree of technological diversification. Moreover, when the moderating variable is add-ed, the result also suggests: compared with less developed area, in the S&T-developed areas, external technology acquisition can lead to more degree of technological diversification, but no difference was found on the R&D in-vestment’s implication. The empirical findings can supply theoretical evidence to promote technological diversifica-tion in practice.
