Study on the Relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation and Firm Innovation from the Contingency Perspective

Abstract:This paper develops a conceptual model about the impacts of entrepreneurial orientation on exploitative and ex-ploratory innovation ,as well as the moderating role of firm age representing internal context of the firm and environmental dynamism characterizing external environment of the firm .Using survey data from 172 companies ,our empirical results indicate that entrepreneurial orientation facilitates both types of innovation ,and has stronger impact on exploration .Firm age strengthens the positive relationship between EO and exploitation ,and has no significant moderating effect on the rela-tionship between EO and exploration .Environmental dynamism weakens the relationship between EO and exploitation , and in the contrast ,strengthens the relationship between EO and exploration .
