A Geographical Discussion on the Concept of Jianghuai Watershed

Abstract:Jianghuai Watershed is the watershed between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River .But there exist different opinions in the literatures toward the exact area that this concept refers to .This paper addressed this problem . On a physical geography view , Jianghuai Watershed refers to the watershed between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River ,which extends from the joint area of the Yellow River , Yangtze River , and the Huaihe River to the East China Sea through the Funiu mountain ,Tongbai mountain ,Dabie mountain ,Jianghuai Hilly Area ,north bank of the Yangtze River .On a human geography view ,Jianghuai Watershed refers to "Comprehensive Management area at Jianghuai watershed "in Anhui province .The physical geography term and human geography term on the Jianghuai Watershed are quite different ,although there has close link between them .But for the convenience of making use , it is acceptable to replace the "Comprehensive Management area at Jianghuai Watershed"by a shortened one "Jianghuai Watershed".
