Abstract:In this Letter, we discuss discrete-time analogue of a continuous-time cellular neural network. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of a unique almost periodic sequence solution which is globally attractive. Our results demonstrate dynamics of the formulated discrete-time analogue as mathematical models for the continuous-time cellular neural network in almost periodic case. Finally, a computer simulation illustrates the suitability of our discrete-time analogue as numerical algorithms in simulating the continuous-time cellular neural network conveniently.

Abstract:In this paper, several criteria are obtained for the existence and exponential attractivity of a unique κ-almost periodic sequence solution of discrete-time bidirectional neural networks (BNNs). Our results generalize the corresponding results about almost periodic sequence solution in common sense. Finally, computer simulations illustrate the dynamic behavior of discrete-time bidirectional neural networks. It is shown that discretization step κ affects dynamical characteristics of bidirectional neural networks and our results on κ-almost periodic sequence solution lead to effective estimates of continuous-time neural networks during real-time computations.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the convergence dynamics of 2(N) almost periodic encoded patterns of general neural networks subjected to external almost periodic stimuli, including almost periodic delays. Invariant regions are established for the existence of 2(N) almost periodic encoded patterns under two classes of activation functions. By employing the property of M-cone and inequality technique, attracting basins are estimated and some criteria are derived for the networks to converge exponentially toward 2(N) almost periodic encoded patterns. Abstract:The existing approaches to the multistability and multiperiodicity of neural networks rely on the strictly excitatory self-interactions of neurons or require constant interconnection weights. For periodically oscillated discrete-time neural networks (DTNNs), it is difficult to discuss multistable dynamics when the connection weights are periodically oscillated around zero. By using transient excitatory self-interactions of neurons and sigmoidal nonlinearities, we develop an approach to investigate multiperiodicity and attractivity of periodically oscillated DTNNs with time-varying and distributed delays. It shows that, under some new criteria, there exist multiplicity results of periodic solutions which are locally or globally exponentially stable. Computer numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the new theories.

Abstract:This paper discusses a class of delayed Clifford-valued shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks. Firstly, we obtain several sufficient conditions for the existence of weighted pseudo almost periodic solutions for Clifford-valued shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with delays by applying the non-decomposition method and Banach fixed point theorem. Secondly, we get the finite-time stability for Clifford-valued shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with delays by using inequality techniques. Finally, we give one illustrative example to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the main results.

Abstract:We adopted a non decomposition method to study the existence and stability of Stepanov almost periodic solutions in the distribution sense of stochastic shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks (SICNNs) with mixed time delays. Due to the lack of linear structure in the set composed of Stepanov almost periodic stochastic processes in the distribution sense. Due to the lack of linear structure in the set composed of distributed Stepanov periodic stochastic processes, it poses difficulties for the existence of Stepanov almost periodic solutions in the distribution sense of SICNNs. To overcome this difficulty, we first proved that the network under consideration has a unique solution in a space composed of $ \mathcal{L}^p $ bounded and $ \mathcal{L}^p $ uniformly continuous stochastic processes. Then, using stochastic analysis, inequality techniques, and the definition of Stepanov almost periodic stochastic processes in the distribution sense, we proved that this solution is also a Stepanov almost periodic solution in the distribution sense. Moreover, the result of the global exponential stability of this almost periodic solution is given. It is worth noting that even if the network under consideration degenerated into a real-valued network, our results are novel. Finally, we provided a numerical example to validate our theoretical findings.

Abstract:In this paper, we first propose a new concept of almost periodic time scales, a new definition of almost automorphic functions on almost periodic time scales, and study some their basic properties. Then we prove a result ensuring the existence of an almost automorphic solution for both the linear nonhomogeneous dynamic equation on time scales and its associated homogeneous equation, assuming that the associated homogeneous equation admits an exponential dichotomy. Finally, as an application of our results, we establish the existence and global exponential stability of almost automorphic solutions to a class of shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time-varying delays on time scales. Our results about the shunting inhibitory cellular neural network with time-varying delays on time scales are new even for the both cases of differential equations(the time scale $\mathbb{T}=\mathbb{R})$ and difference equations(the time scale $\mathbb{T}=\mathbb{Z})$.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of octonion‐valued stochastic shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with delays. First, we give an estimate of the distance between two different moments of finite‐dimensional distributions of a stochastic process. Then, based on this and by using fixed point theorems and inequality techniques, we establish the existence and global exponential stability of Besicovitch almost periodic ( B ‐almost periodic for short) solutions in finite‐dimensional distributions for this kind of networks. Our results are new even if the networks we consider in the paper are real‐valued ones. At the same time, the method proposed in this paper can be applied to study the existence of Besicovitch almost periodic solutions in finite‐dimensional distributions for other types of stochastic neural networks. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the multistability of almost periodic solutions of a class of delayed neural networks. We derive conditions guaranteeing 2n asymptotically stable almost periodic trajectories for neural networks with n-neurons. Furthermore, we investigate the attraction basin of each almost periodic solution. Compared with the existing literature, we obtain a more general criteria for the multistability of delayed neural networks and depict the attraction basins more precisely.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate dynamics of 2N almost periodic attractors for cellular neural networks (CNNs) with variable and distributed delays. By imposing some new assumptions on activation functions and system parameters, we split invariant basin of CNNs into 2N compact convex subsets. Then the existence of 2N almost periodic solutions lying in compact convex subsets is attained due to employment of the theory of exponential dichotomy and Schauder's fixed point theorem. Meanwhile, we derive some new criteria for the networks to converge toward these 2N almost periodic solutions and exponential attracting domains are also given correspondingly. The obtained results are new and can be applied to a large class of neural networks.

Abstract:In this paper, the existence and the global exponential stability of anti-periodic solution for competitive neural networks with delays in the leakage terms are investigated on time scales which unifies the continuous-time and the discrete-time competitive neural networks under the same framework. Firstly, the existence of anti-periodic solution is discussed by using the method of coincidence degree and M-matrices. Then some sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee the global exponential stability of anti-periodic solution for such neural networks. The obtained results are new and improve some earlier publications. Finally, two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This brief investigates the problem of global exponential stability analysis for discrete recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays. In terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, a novel delay-dependent stability criterion is established for the considered recurrent neural networks via a new Lyapunov function. The obtained condition has less conservativeness and less number of variables than the existing ones. Numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Using general measure theory and the Mittag-Leffler function, we obtain the existence of unique solutions for cellular neural equations and investigate the Mittag-Leffler stability and attractiveness of pseudo almost periodic functions. We also present numerical examples to illustrate the application of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of neutral type competitive neural networks with mixed time-varying delays and leakage delays on time scales is proposed. Based on the exponential dichotomy of linear dynamic equations on time scales, Banach's fixed point theorem and the theory of calculus on time scales, some sufficient conditions that are independent of the backwards graininess function of the time scale are obtained for the existence and global exponential stability of almost periodic solutions for this class of neural networks. The obtained results are completely new and indicate that both the continuous time and the discrete time cases of the networks share the same dynamical behavior. Finally, an examples is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Abstract:<p>In this paper, periodic dynamics and periodic synchronization of a class of delayed neural networks with discontinuous neuron activations and impulsive perturbations are investigated. Firstly, based on Filippov's functional differential inclusion and impulsive differential inclusions theory, the existence of solutions of the considered neural network system is studied. Secondly, according to Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem on cones of set-valued analysis, sufficient conditions are provided for the existence of at least one periodic solution and at least two periodic solutions for the neural network systems. Furthermore, we also use Kakutani's fixed point theorem to give sufficient criteria for the existence of at least one periodic solution of the neural network systems. These results shown that there are still one or more periodic solutions for the neural networks with discontinuous activations under the impulsive effects. Moreover, sufficient criteria are given to the exponential periodic synchronization under the switching state-feedback control strategy with or without delay. Finally, two numerical simulation examples are presented to verify the correctness and validity of our main conclusions.</p>

Abstract:We use the concept of the Filippov solution to study the dynamics of a class of delayed dynamical systems with discontinuous right-hand side, which contains the widely studied delayed neural network models with almost periodic self-inhibitions, interconnection weights, and external inputs. We prove that diagonal-dominant conditions can guarantee the existence and uniqueness of an almost periodic solution, as well as its global exponential stability. As special cases, we derive a series of results on the dynamics of delayed dynamical systems with discontinuous activations and periodic coefficients or constant coefficients, respectively. From the proof of the existence and uniqueness of the solution, we prove that the solution of a delayed dynamical system with high-slope activations approximates to the Filippov solution of the dynamical system with discontinuous activations.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of recurrent neural networks with discrete and continuously distributed delays is considered. Sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness, and global exponential stability of a periodic solution are obtained by using contraction mapping theorem and stability theory on impulsive functional differential equations. The proposed method, which differs from the existing results in the literature, shows that network models may admit a periodic solution which is globally exponentially stable via proper impulsive control strategies even if it is originally unstable or divergent. Two numerical examples and their computer simulations are offered to show the effectiveness of our new results.
