On Application of Corpus Based Method in Engineering Professional English Teaching——A Case Study of Materials Professional English Teaching at Southwest University

Abstract:Students of engineering science are less motivated in professional English language learning than English major students,due to various reasons,e.g.:learning interests,and traditional English teaching methods.In order to improve the teaching efficiency of vocabulary in "professional English",an empirical study is conducted among students of Material Science and Engineering from Southwest University.The corpus based methods are applied in material science English class teaching,to probe into the effect of corpus methods in professional English class.Results show that corpus based methods in professional English class teaching greatly encourage students in positive teacher's evaluation,class performance,learning interests,and motivation.
