Abstract:The relationship between the abiotic factors and the microbial activity in the rhizosphere micro eco-system was analyzed using soil polluted by oil exploitation in the Daqing oilfield. The phytoremediation was studied using alfalfa and Elymus dahuricum. The tests monitored the microbial activities in the rhizosphere and the petroleum degradation rates. The results show that the plant roots improved the water content in the polluted soil by 10% and increased the number of microorganisms in the rhizosphere by two orders of magnitude relative to the control soil while the microorganism activity was 0.29~0.36 times higher. After 150 days, the petroleum degradation rates in the rhizosphere were at 9.1%~15.5%higher than in the control soil. The increased microbial activities induced by the improved rhizosphere micro eco-system can be used to enhance biodegradation of petrochemicals and bioremediation of polluted soil.
