Abstract:For Kuqa Basin, there has different subsiding features during its Mesozoic and Cenozoic evolution periods. In the evolving stage of the Triassic foreland basin, the subsiding area of Kuqa basin was relatively small, the subsiding center lay in the front of the South Tianshan Mountains and on its north, and the subsiding velocity was at medium level with the average value of 60 m/Ma. In the evolving stages of stretch basin from Jurassic to Paleogene, the subsiding centers were still moved to the south and west, so the subsiding area became bigger than that of the Triassic foreland basin, and the less extent and velocity (only 25~30 m/Ma) indicated that the subsiding process became feeble. Finally, in the evolving stages of the Cenozoic foreland basin from the sedimentary periods of Jidike to Kuqa Formation, the subsiding process the basin exhibited was so forceful that there generally had a very big depression area and a very high velocity with span of 133.3~200 m/Ma (there was a highest velocity of 1 428 m/Ma during the period of Kuqa formation depression).
