Abstract:Removal rates of elements and eutrophic composition by different plant species in two levels of eutrophic water were studied. In high eutrophic water, plants with high transpiration had high purification ability in various compositions in water, while in low eutrophic water the trend was not same among the species. Different plant species were used, according to their different adaptation to the environment, in different degrees of eutrophic water. Among them, Juncus setchuensis and Ipomoea aquatica had high purification ability both in high and low eutrophic water, and did not need the supply of elements; Commelina communis is a shade tolerance species, its purification ability was better when it was in suitable shade; Coix lacryma jobi needed a supply of some elements when it was used in the purification of high eutrophic water; Phragmites australis had a good purification ability in low eutrophic water, but also in high eutrophic water with high salt content; Hemerocallis fulva and Acorus calamus had similar purification ability in both high and low eutrophic water, but, both were lower than the species above. The advantage of the latter species is keeping green in winter.
