Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions of an equation with p -Laplacian where n ≥ 3, 1 < p < n , q > 0, Δ p u = div(|∇ u | p −2 ∇ u ), and K ( x ) is a double bounded function. We will prove the following results. When 0 < q < p − 1, the equation has no solution satisfying inf R n u = 0 for any double bounded function K ( x ). When q = p − 1, the equation has a positive radial singular solution for K ( x ) ≡ Const. . In addition, q = p − 1 is a necessary condition such that this equation (with K ( x ) ≡ 1) has finite energy solutions. In addition, the existence of positive solutions are also derived for the system where u , v > 0 in R n \ {0}, n ≥ 3, 1 < p 1 , p 2 < n , q 1 , q 2 > 0, and K 1 ( x ), K 2 ( x ) are double bounded functions.

Introducing some assumptions on nonlinearities, we get that the positive solutions of the problem above are symmetric w.r.t. the direction $ \nu $ by a new simple idea even if $ {{\Omega}} $ is not convex in the direction $ \nu $.

Abstract:The existence of positive solutions to p-Laplace nonlinear elliptic system with Dirichlet boundary conditions is investigated.First,with the symmetry of the p-Laplace system and Mountain Pass Theorem,the form solution to the corresponding single equation of the original system is obtained and its positiveness is proved.The positive sup-solution to the original system is obtained.Second,the appropriate mapping is structured with the solution to decoupled system in the intervals of sub-super solutions.Finally,with the Leray-Schauder's fixed point theorem,the existence of positive solutions is obtained.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the nonlinear p-Laplacian equation −Δpu=f(x,u) in Rn. Existence of infinitely many positive solutions is established via super–sub-solution methods. Decaying conditions on f(x,u) at |x|=∞ are imposed. Necessity of the conditions and nonexistence of positive solutions are illustrated through decay–growth estimates of solutions at infinity. Special situation and examples are checked in detail.

By using the fixed point theo-rem, some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions are obtained. Examples are given to il-lustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following multipoint boundary value problem with one-dimensional ϕ-Laplacian (ϕ(x′(t)))′+q(t)f(t,x(t),x′(t))=0,t∈(0,1),x(0)=∑i=1n−2αix(ξi),ϕ(x′(1))=∑i=1n−2βiϕ(x′(ξi)), where ϕ(⋅) is an odd and increasing homeomorphism, ξi∈(0,1) with 0<ξ1<ξ2<⋯<ξn−2<1, αi and βi are nonnegative constants and f(t,x(t),x′(t)) is continuous and allowed to change sign. By fixed point theorems, we obtain new results on the existence of at least three positive solutions of this boundary value problem, which includes and improves some related results in the relevant literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a two-point boundary value problem involving p -Laplacian and its relationship with the associated discrete ones. Specifically, by using discrete variational methods, we first obtain a sequence of positive solutions for the associated discrete two-point boundary value problems corresponding to different step lengths. Then, utilizing the sequence of positive solutions, we construct a sequence of continuous functions which can be shown to be precompact. Finally, we prove that the limit function of the convergent subsequence is the desired positive solution. In particular, our result covers the cases when the nonlinear function in the equation is -superlinear and asymptotically -linear.

Using the five functionals fixed point theorem, we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of multiple (at least three) positive solutions for the above boundary value problems.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the multiplicity of positive solutions for a static Schrödinger-Poisson-Slater equation of the type where μ > 0 , 1 < p < 2 , f ∈ L 6 6 − p ( R 3 ) , and f , g ∈ C ( R 3 , R + ) . Using Ekeland's variational principle and a measure representation concentration-compactness of Lions, when g has one local maximum point, we obtain two positive solutions for μ > 0 small; while g has k strict local maximum points, we prove that the equation has at least k + 1 distinct positive solutions for μ > 0 small by the Nehari manifold. Moreover, we show that one of the solutions is a ground state solution.

Abstract:We study a class of boundary value problems with $\varphi$-Laplacian (e.g., the prescribed mean curvature equation, in which $\varphi(s)=\frac{s}{\sqrt{1+s^2}}$) \begin{center} $-\left(\varphi(u')\right)'=\lambda f(u)\; \text{ on }(-L, L),\quad u(-L)=u(L)=0,$ \end{center} where $\lambda$ and $L$ are positive parameters. For convex $f$ with $f(0)=0$, we establish various results on the exact number of positive solutions as well as global bifurcation diagrams. Some new bifurcation patterns are shown. This paper is a continuation of Pan and Xing [13], where the case $f(0)>0$ has been investigated.

Abstract:In this paper we study the nonlinear elliptic problem driven by p(x)-Laplacian with a nonsmooth locally Lipschitz potential (hemivariational inequality), that is (P){−div(‖∇u(x)‖RNp(x)−2∇u(x))∈∂j(x,u(x)),a.a. x∈Ω,u=0,on ∂Ω, where Ω⊂RN is a bounded domain and p:Ω¯→R is a continuous function satisfying some given assumptions. The approach used in this paper is the variational method for locally Lipschitz functions. More precisely, Weierstrass Theorem and Mountain Pass Theorem are used to prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions. Finally, we obtain the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions of constant sign.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem for the nonlinear equation involving p-Laplacian operator: -△pu = λf(u) on a bounded smooth domain Ω in Rn. The authors extend part of the Crandall-Rabinowitz bifurcation theory to this problem. Typical examples are checked in detail and multiplicity of the solutions are illustrated. Then the stability for the associated parabolic equation is considered and a Fujita-type result is presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for semi-linear elliptic equations with a sign-changing weight function in weighted Sobolev spaces. By investigating the compact embedding theorem and based on the extraction of the Palais-Smale sequence in the Nehari manifold which is a subset of the weighted Sobolev spaces, we derive the existence of the multiple positive solutions of the equations by using the variational method. In the last part of this paper, by applying the Arzela-Ascoli fixed point theorem, some existence results of the corresponding time-fractional equations for semi-linear elliptic equations are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate nonlinear second-order double impulsive differential equations integral boundary value problem with p-Laplacian on an infinite interval with the infinite number of impulsive times. Based on the cone theory and monotone iterative technique, we establish the existence of minimal nonnegative solution and iteration of positive solutions for such a boundary value problem. The main results are new and extend the existing results. At last, some examples are worked out to demonstrate the use of the main results.

In this paper we consider the existence of positive solutions for problems of the form \[ \begin{cases} -\phi\left( u^{\prime}\right) ^{\prime}=\lambda m(x)f(u)+\mu n(x)g(u) & \text{ in }\Omega,\\ u=0 & \text{ on }\partial\Omega, \end{cases} \] where $f,g:[0,\infty)\rightarrow\lbrack0,\infty)$ are continuous functions which are, roughly speaking, sublinear and superlinear with respect to $\phi$, respectively. Our assumptions on $\phi$, $m$ and $n$ are substantially weaker than the ones imposed in previous works. The approach used here combines the Guo-Krasnoselski\uı\ fixed-point theorem and the sub-supersolutions method with some estimates on related nonlinear problems.
