The Retarded Setting of Ready- mixed Concrete and Precautionary Measures

Abstract:According to the setting mechanisms of cement and the influence of set retarder or set-retarding and water-reducing agent on the setting,we analyzed the reasons for the retarded set or super retarded-set of ready-mixed concrete and the measures to offset.The results show that the reasons are mainly due to the retarded set of cement used or the excessive addition of set retarder or set-retarding and water-reducing agent.Attentions should be therefore paid to the application of cements with appropriate setting time and the accurate addition of set retarder or set-retarding and water-reducing agent in the production of ready-mixed concrete.
