Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of countably many positive solutions for nth-order m-point boundary value problems consisting of the equation u(n)(t)+a(t)f(u(t))=0,t∈(0,1), with one of the following boundary value conditions: u(0)=∑i=1m−2kiu(ξi),u′(0)=⋯=u(n−2)(0)=0,u(1)=0, and u(0)=0,u′(0)=⋯=u(n−2)(0)=0,u(1)=∑i=1m−2kiu(ξi), where n≥2,ki>0(i=1,2,…,m−2),0<ξ1<ξ2<⋯<ξm−2<1,a(t)∈Lp[0,1] for some p≥1 and has countably many singularities in [0,12). The associated Green’s function for the nth order m-point boundary value problem is first given, and we show that there exist countably many positive solutions using Holder’s inequality and Krasnoselskii’s fixed point theorem for operators on a cone.

Abstract:Utilizing the nonlinear alternative theorem, we prove the existence of positive solutions for the nonlinear nth order m-point boundary value problem with coefficient that changes sign. In order to do so, firstly, we give the associated Green's function and its properties. Then we impose conditions on the nonlinear term. a, f and parameter lambda which ensure the existence of positive solutions. Finally, we give a simple example to illustrate the applications of the obtained result. Our result extends and improves some of the existing literature.

We show sufficient conditions for the existence of at least two positive solutions by applying a new fixed point theorem in cones and the associated Green’s function. In particular, the second positive solutions for the above problem is not concave.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.
