Abstract:In this paper, we concern the strong convergence and stability of the balanced Euler method for stochastic pantograph differential equations with Markovian switching (SPDEs-MS). We present the balanced Euler method of SPDEs-MS and consider its moment boundedness under polynomial growth condition plus Khasminskii-type condition. We also study its strong convergence order and its mean-square stability. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:The polynomial stability problem of stochastic delay differential equations has been studied in recent years. In contrast, there are relatively few works on stochastic partial differential equations with pantograph delay. The present paper is devoted to investigating large-time asymptotic properties of solutions for stochastic pantograph delay evolution equations with nonlinear multiplicative noise. We first show that the mild solutions of stochastic pantograph delay evolution equations with nonlinear multiplicative noise tend to zero with general decay rate (including both polynomial and logarithmic rates) in the [Formula: see text]th moment and almost sure senses. The analysis is based on the Banach fixed point theorem and various estimates involving the gamma function. Moreover, by using a generalized version of the factorization formula and exploiting an approximation technique and a convergence analysis, we construct the nontrivial equilibrium solution, defined for [Formula: see text], for stochastic pantograph delay evolution equations with nonlinear multiplicative noise. In particular, the uniqueness, Hölder regularity in time and general stability, in the [Formula: see text]th moment and almost sure senses, of the nontrivial equilibrium solution are established.

Abstract:In the literature [1] [Existence and uniqueness of the solutions and convergence of semi-implicit Euler methods for stochastic pantograph equation, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 325 (2007) 1142-1159], Fan and Liu investigated the existence and uniqueness of the solution for stochastic pantograph equation and proved the convergence of the semi-implicit Euler methods under the Lipschitz condition and the linear growth condition. Unfortunately, the main result of convergence derived by the conditions is somewhat restrictive for the purpose of practical application, because there are many stochastic pantograph equations that only satisfy the local Lipschitz condition. In this note we improve the corresponding results in the above-mentioned reference. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a random field Uɛ(t,x) governed by some type of stochastic partial differential equations with an unknown parameter θ and a small noise ɛ. We construct an estimator of θ based on the continuous observation of N Fourier coefficients of Uɛ(t,x), and prove the strong convergence and asymptotic normality of the estimator when the noise ɛ tends to zero.

Abstract:The exponential stability and the polynomial stability have been well studied for the exact and numerical solutions of the stochastic pantograph differential equations (SPDEs), while the result on the general decay stabilities is insufficient for SPDEs. In this paper, the sufficient conditions of the almost sure stability with general decay rate of the exact and numerical solutions for SPDEs have been considered. The stability of two different theta numerical methods, namely the split–step theta method and the stochastic linear theta method, have been discussed respectively. From the conditions, we established for the two theta approximations to reproduce the stability of the exact solution, and we see that the conditions for 𝜃∈0,12$$\theta \in \left [0,\frac {1}{2}\right ]$$ are stronger than those for 𝜃∈12,1$$\theta \in \left (\frac {1}{2},1\right ]$$. The bound of the Lyapunov exponent of the split-step theta method is little bigger than that of the stochastic linear theta method for sufficiently small step size. To illustrate the theoretical results, we give two examples to examine the almost sure exponential stability.

Abstract:This paper considers the asymptotic behaviour of deterministically and stochastically forced linear pantograph equations. The asymptotic behaviour is studied in the case when all solutions of the pantograph equation without forcing tend to a trivial equilibrium. In all cases, we give necessary and sufficient conditions on the forcing terms which enable all solutions to converge to the equilibrium of the unforced equation, and which enable solutions to remain bounded. In the deterministic case, we give sharp conditions on forcing terms which enable the solutions of the forced equations to inherit the power law behaviour of the unforced equation, as well as slower rates of decay or growth not present in the unforced equation.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss stochastic differential delay equations with Markovian switching. Such an equation can be regarded as the result of several stochastic differential delay equations switching from one to the others according to the movement of a Markov chain. The main aim of this paper is to give the LaSalle-type theorem for stochastic differential delay equations with Markovian switching. A new result on stochastic asymptotic stability follow from the LaSalle-type theorem. An example is given to show the validity of our new results.

Abstract:The paper deals with the numerical asymptotical mean-square stability of split-step ? methods for stochastic pantograph differential equations, which is the generalization of deterministic pantograph equations. Instead of the quasi-geometric mesh, a fully-geometric mesh, widely used for deterministic problems, is employed. A useful technique, the limiting equation, for deterministic problems is also extended to stochastic problems based on Kronecker product. Under the exact stability condition, the stability region of the split-step ? methods is discussed, which is an improvement of some existing results. Moreover, such technique is also available to stochastic pantograph differential equations with Poisson jumps. Meanwhile, compared with the destabilization of Wiener process, the stabilization of Poisson jumps is replicated by numerical processes. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate that our numerical stability condition is nearly necessary for stochastic problems.

Abstract:We investigate LaSalle-type theorems for general nonlinear stochastic functional differential equations. With some preliminaries on lemmas and the derivation techniques, we establish three LaSalle-type theorems for the general nonlinear stochastic functional differential equations via multiple Lyapunov functions. For the typical special case with estimations involving |x(t)|(p) for the derivatives of the Lyapunov functions, a theorem is established as the corollary of the main theorem. At the end of the paper, an example is given to illustrate the usage of the method proposed and show the advantage of the results obtained.

It is proved that the semi-implicit Euler method with variable stepsize is convergent with strong order p = 1/2. The conditions under which the method is mean square stability are determined and the numerical experiments are given.

Abstract:One kind of stochastic delay differential equation in which the delay term is dependent on a proportion of the current time is the pantograph stochastic differential equation. Electric current collection, nonlinear dynamics, quantum mechanics, and electrodynamics are among the phenomena modeled using this equation. A key idea in physics and mathematics is the well-posedness of a differential equation, which guarantees that the solution to the problem exists and is a unique and meaningful solution that relies continuously on the initial condition and the value of the fractional derivative. Ulam-Hyers stability is a property of equations that states that if a function is approximately satisfying the equation, then there exists an exact solution that is close to the function. Inspired by these findings, in this research work, we established the Ulam-Hyers stability and well-posedness of solutions of pantograph fractional stochastic differential equations (PFSDEs) in the framework of conformable derivatives. In addition, we provided examples to analyze the theoretical results.

Abstract:Stochastic pantograph equations (SPEs) are a special case of stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) with unbounded memory. Here we examine analytical and numerical solutions of nonlinear SPEs. Some sufficient conditions for the mean-square (MS) stability of the analytical solutions are obtained. We consider the Euler–Maruyama (EM) method and develop a fundamental analysis concerning its strong convergence and MS stability. We show that the numerical solution produced by the EM method converges to the exact solution under the local Lipschitz condition. We find that the stability conditions for the EM method are somewhat stronger than those for the analytical solution. Therefore, we consider an implicit method, the backward Euler (BE) method. By constructing an Ft-adaptive continuous approximate solution, we obtain an analogous result of convergence under the local Lipschitz condition, that is, the BE solution converges to the exact solution. Furthermore, we prove that if the nonlinear SPEs are stable, then so is the BE method applied to the systems for any step size. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the MS stability of the numerical methods.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the \begin{document}$ p $\end{document}th moment and almost sure stability with general decay rate (including exponential decay, polynomial decay, and logarithmic decay) of highly nonlinear hybrid neutral stochastic pantograph differential equations driven by L\begin{document}$ \acute{e} $\end{document}vy noise (NSPDEs-LN). The crucial techniques used are the Lyapunov functions and the nonnegative semi-martingale convergence theorem. Simultaneously, the diffusion operators are permitted to be controlled by several additional functions with time-varying coefficients, which can be applied to a broad class of the non-autonomous hybrid NSPDEs-LN with highly nonlinear coefficients. Besides, \begin{document}$ H_\infty $\end{document} stability and the almost sure asymptotic stability are also concerned. Finally, two examples are offered to illustrate the validity of the obtained theory.

Abstract:The convergence and stability of backward differential formulas on uniform meshes for pantograph differential equations are dealt with.The backward differential formula (BDF) combined with a linear interpolation on uniform meshes is presented to solve pantograph differential equations.It is proved that the numerical solution convergent to the exact solution with order 1.The asymptotic stability of the BDF is investigated.Some numerical experiments are given to illustrate the theoretical results obtained.

Abstract:The stochastic pantograph equations (SPEs) are very special stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) with unbounded memory. When the numerical methods with a constant step size are applied to the pantograph equations, the most difficult problem is the limited computer memory. In this paper, we construct methods with variable step size to solve SPEs. The analysis is motivated by the example of a mean-square stable linear SPE for which the Euler-Maruyama (EM) method with variable step size fails to reproduce this behaviour for any nonzero timestep. Then we consider the Backward Euler (BE) method with variable step size and develop the fundamental numerical analysis concerning its strong convergence and mean-square linear stability. It is proved that the numerical solutions produced by the BE method with variable step size converge to the exact solution under the local Lipschitz condition and the Bounded condition. Furthermore, the order of convergence p = 1/2 is given under the Lipschitz condition. The result of the mean-square linear stability is given. Some illustrative numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the order of strong convergence and the mean-square linear stability of the BE method.

Abstract:The asymptotic and stable properties of general stochastic functional differential equations are investigated by the multiple Lyapunov function method, which admits nonnegative upper bounds for the stochastic derivatives of the Lyapunov functions, a theorem for asymptotic properties of the LaSalletype described by limit sets of the solutions of the equations is obtained. Based on the asymptotic properties to the limit set, a theorem of asymptotic stability of the stochastic functional differential equations is also established, which enables us to construct the Lyapunov functions more easily in application. Particularly, the wellknown classical theorem on stochastic stability is a special case of our result, the operator LV is not required to be negative which is more general to fulfil and the stochastic perturbation plays an important role in it. These show clearly the improvement of the traditional method to find the Lyapunov functions. A numerical simulation example is given to illustrate the usage of the method.

Abstract:The paper deals with the asymptotical mean-square stability of the linear theta-methods under variable stepsize and transformation approach for stochastic pantograph differential equations. A limiting equation for the analysis of numerical stability is introduced by Kronecker products. Under the condition which guarantee the stability of exact solutions, the optimal stability region of the linear theta-methods under variable stepsize is given by using the limiting equation, i.e. theta is an element of (1/2, 1], which is the same to the deterministic problems. Moreover, the linear theta-methods under the transformation approach are also considered and the result of the stability is improved for theta = 1/2 Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the asymptotical mean-square stability under variable stepsize and transformation approach.

Abstract:The main aim of this paper is to improve some results obtained by Mao [X. Mao, The LaSalle-type theorems for stochastic functional differential equations, Nonlinear Stud. 7 (2000) 307–328]. Our new theorems give better results while conditions imposed are much weaker than in the paper mentioned above. For example, we need only the local Lipschitz condition but neither the linear growth condition nor the bounded moment condition on the solutions. To guarantee the existence and uniqueness of the global solution to the underlying stochastic functional differential equation (SFDE) under the weaker conditions imposed in this paper, we establish a generalised existence-and-uniqueness theorem which covers a wider class of nonlinear SFDEs as demonstrated by the examples discussed in this paper. Moreover, from our improved results follow some new criteria on the stochastic asymptotic stability for SFDEs.
