Abstract:Very recently we have witnessed a new development of quantum information, the so-called continuous variable (CV) quantum information theory. Such a further development has been mainly due to the experimental and theoretical advantages offered by CV systems, i.e., quantum systems described by a set of observables, like position and momentum, which have a continuous spectrum of eigenvalues. According to this novel trend, quantum information protocols like quantum teleportation have been suitably extended to the CV framework. Here, we briefly review some mathematical tools relative to CV systems and we consequently develop the concepts of quantum entanglement and teleportation in the CV framework, by analogy with the qubit-based approach. Some connections between teleportation fidelity and entanglement properties of the underlying quantum channel are inspected. Next, we face the study of CV quantum teleportation networks where more users share a multipartite state and an arbitrary pair of them performs quantum teleportation. In this context, we show alternative protocols and we investigate the optimal strategy that maximizes the performance of the network.

Abstract:The state evolution of quantum teleportation for different types of continuous variables is mathematically analyzed based on the measurement theory of quantum mechanics.The fidelities in different systems are deduced.Our results show that for different input state the expressions of fidelity and the nonclassical boundary are different.Comparing with the coherent state,when the input state is a nonclassical state higher quantum entanglement is required for obtaining the same fidelity.

Abstract:When given an unknown quantum state which may be either a pure or a mixed state in the coherent state representation, we show that explicit expressions for the teleported state and its fidelity in the teleportation process (S. L. Braunstein and H. J. Kimble 1998 Phys. Rev. Lett. 80 869) can be obtained without explicit expansions for the two-mode squeezed vacuum state and the Bell basis in a specified representation.

Abstract:We study the entanglement of entangled coherent states in vacuum environment by employing the entanglement of formation and propose a scheme to probabilistically teleport a coherent superposition state via entangled coherent states. Abstract:When sending a quantum state which originally has nonclassical properties such as various kinds of squeezing and photon antibunching effects according to the protocol for teleportation of continuous variables [S. L. Braunstein and H. J. Kimble, Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 869 (1998)], we investigate to what extent those nonclassical properties can be preserved in the teleported field. Explicit conditions of the squeezing parameter for the second- and fourth-order quadrature-phase squeezings, the squared amplitude squeezing, and the photon antibunching effect to survive in the teleported field are obtained.

Abstract:We study the continuous-variable (CV) quantum teleportation protocol in the case that one of the two modes of the shared entangled resource is sent to the receiver through a Gaussian Quantum Brownian Motion noisy channel. We show that if the channel is engineered in a non-Markovian regime, the information backflow from the environment induces an extra dependance of the phase of the two-mode squeezing of the shared Gaussian entangled resource on the transit time along the channel of the shared mode sent to the receiver. Optimizing over the non-Markovianity dependent phase of the squeezing yields a significant enhancement of the teleportation fidelity. For short enough channel transit times, essentially unit fidelity is achieved at realistic, finite values of the squeezing amplitude for a sufficiently large degree of the channel non-Markovianity.

Abstract:We propose a quantum teleportation scheme in which a quantum state is teleported from the sending station (Alice) to either of two receiving stations (Bob1, Bob2). In this scheme, two pairs of EPR beams with identical frequency and constant phase relation are used to produce two pairs of conditional entangled beams by composing their modes on two beamsplitters. One output of a beamsplitter is sent to Alice and the two outputs of the other beamsplitter are sent to Bob1 and Bob2. Which receiving station actually receives the teleported state can be decided by correlating the in-phase or out-of-phase quadrature components of two two-mode squeezed vacuum states. The switch system manipulated by squeezed state light might be developed as a practical quantum switch device for the communication and teleportation of quantum information.
Continuous variable quantum teleportation with sculptured and noisy non-Gaussian resources

Abstract:We investigate continuous variable (CV) quantum teleportation using relevant classes of non-Gaussian states of the radiation field as entangled resources. First, we introduce the class two-mode squeezed symmetric superposition of Fock states, including finite truncations of twin-beam Gaussian states as special realizations. These states depend on a set of free independent parameters that can be adjusted for the optimization of teleportation protocols, with an enhancement of the success probability of teleportation both for coherent and Fock input states. We show that the optimization procedure reduces the entangled resources to truncated twin beam states, which thus represents an optimal class of non-Gaussian resources for quantum teleportation. We then introduce a further class of two-mode non-Gaussian entangled resources, in the form of squeezed cat-like states. We analyze the performance and the properties of such states when optimized for (CV) teleportation, and compare them to the optimized squeezed Bell-like states introduced in a previous work \cite{CVTelepNoi}. We discuss how optimal resources for teleportation are characterized by a suitable balance of entanglement content and squeezed vacuum affinity. We finally investigate the effects of thermal noise on the efficiency of quantum teleportation. To this aim, a convenient framework is to describe noisy entangled resources as linear superpositions of non-Gaussian state and thermal states. Although the presence of the thermal component strongly reduces the teleportation fidelity, noisy non-Gaussian states remain preferred resources when compared to noisy twin-beam Gaussian states.

Continuous variable quantum teleportation using photon subtracted and photon added two mode squeezed coherent state

Abstract:We consider non-Gaussian states generated by photon subtraction (PS) and photon addition (PA) on two-mode squeezed coherent (TMSC) states, as resource states for continuous variable (CV) quantum teleportation (QT). To this end, we derive the Wigner characteristic function for the family of photon subtracted and photon added TMSC states, which is then utilized to calculate the fidelity of teleporting a single mode coherent state and a squeezed vacuum state. The analysis shows that while symmetric PS enhances the fidelity of QT in an extensive range of squeezing, asymmetric PS enhances the performance marginally and only in the low squeezing regime. The addition operations on the other hand are less useful, symmetric three-PA leads to a marginal improvement while the other addition operations are useless. We have considered the actual experimental setup for PS and PA operations and computed their success probabilities which should be kept in mind while advocating the use of these operations. We could compute the fidelity of QT for a broad range of states because we analytically derived the Wigner characteristic function for these family of states which we think will be useful for various other applications of these families of states.

Abstract:Traditional continuous variable teleportation can only approach unit fidelity in the limit of an infinite (and unphysical) amount of squeezing. We describe a new method for continuous variable teleportation that approaches unit fidelity with finite resources. The protocol is not based on squeezed states as in traditional teleportation but on an ensemble of single photon entangled states. We characterize the teleportation scheme with coherent states, Schrodinger cat states and two-mode squeezed state and we find several situations in which near-unity teleportation fidelity can be obtained with modest resources.

Abstract:The quantum teleportation of continuous variables is formulated through the state evolution in the Schrodinger picture from the viewpoint of general quantum-mechnical measurement theory. This method provides the connection between the teleportation and the reversible quantum operations. In this way, the state evolution process of teleportation can be presented clearly step by step, the criterium of teleportation for a coherent state is also deduced.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation of one- and two-photon superposition states based on EPR entanglement of continuous-wave two-mode squeezed state is discussed. The fidelities of teleportation are deduced for two different input quantum states. The dependence of the fidelity on the parameters of EPR entanglement and the gain of the classical channels are shown numerically. Comparing with the teleportation of Fock state and coherent state, it is pointed out that for given EPR entanglement and classical gain, the higher the nonclassicality of the input state, the lower the accessible fidelity of teleportation.

Abstract:The efficiency of continuous-variable quantum teleportation is typically quantified by fidelity especially in experiment. From the original definition of fidelity in two pure states, we give an expansion of fidelity which is related to the variances of output and input states. With a coherent or a squeezed input state, it is convenient to quantify the quantum teleportation experiment, since the variances of quadrature components of the input and output states are measurable. Furthermore, the fidelity was discussed when the quantum channel lies in the phase-and amplitude-noisy environment, which is unavoidable in experiment, and this showed that the effect of phase noise on teleportation is more sensitive than that of the amplitude-noisy environment. The classical fidelity limit of squeezed state quantum teleportation is also obtained when the entanglement resources do not exist.

Abstract:This paper has investigated quantum teleportation of even and odd coherent states in terms of the EPR entanglement states for continuous variables. It discusses the relationship between the fidelity and the entanglement of EPR states, which is characterized by the degree of squeezing and the gain of classical channels. It shows that the quality of teleporting quantum states also depends on the characteristics of the states themselves. The properties of teleporting even and odd coherent states at different intensities are investigated. The difference of teleporting two such kinds of quantum states are analysed based on the quantum distance function.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is one of the crucial protocols in quantum information processing. It is important to accomplish an efficient teleportation under practical conditions, aiming at a higher fidelity desirably using fewer resources. The continuous-variable (CV) version of quantum teleportation was first proposed using a Gaussian state as a quantum resource, while other attempts were also made to improve performance by applying non-Gaussian operations. We investigate the CV teleportation to find its ultimate fidelity under energy constraint identifying an optimal quantum state. For this purpose, we present a formalism to evaluate teleportation fidelity as an expectation value of an operator. Using this formalism, we prove that the optimal state must be a form of photon-number entangled states. We further show that Gaussian states are near-optimal while non-Gaussian states make a slight improvement and therefore are rigorously optimal, particularly in the low-energy regime.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is a fundamental ingredient for quantum information science and technology. In particular, the ability to perform quantum teleportation between quantum systems of different natures and encoding types is crucial for building complex systems, such as distributed quantum internet. Here we propose a scheme to teleport a continuous variable optical qubit, encoded in an optical qumode by means of a superposed coherent state, onto a discrete variable solid-state qubit, associated with a single nitrogen-vacancy center spin in diamond, via a hybrid entanglement. By using a newly developed method for Bell-state measurement, which relies only on light homodyne detection and spin polarization measurement, near-deterministic and -perfect quantum teleportation can be achieved for large coherent-state amplitude input. Taking noise effects into account, we find that the average teleportation fidelity can still exceed the classical limit, enabling substantial teleportation distances under realistic experimental conditions.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is a core protocol in quantum information science. Besides revealing the fascinating feature of quantum entanglement, quantum teleportation provides an ultimate way to distribute quantum state over extremely long distance, which is crucial for global quantum communication and future quantum networks. In this review, we focus on the long distance quantum teleportation experiments, especially those employing photonic qubits. From the viewpoint of real-world application, both the technical advantages and disadvantages of these experiments are discussed.
Non-Gaussian two mode squeezed thermal states in continuous variable quantum teleportation

Abstract:While photon catalyzed two mode squeezed vacuum state has been considered in context of quantum teleportation, similar studies have not been yet conducted for photon catalyzed two-mode squeezed thermal (TMST) state. This can be attributed to challenges involved in the evaluation of teleportation fidelity for photon catalyzed TMST state. In this article, we consider a practical scheme for the implementation of non-Gaussian operation, viz., photon subtraction, photon addition, and photon catalysis, on TMST state. The generated states are employed as resources in continuous-variable quantum teleportation. The results show that the three non-Gaussian operations can enhance the teleportation fidelity. Considering the success probability of the non-Gaussian operations, we identify single-photon catalysis and single photon subtraction to be optimal for teleporting input coherent states, at low and intermediate squeezing levels.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation protocols of continuous variable (CV) Greeberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) entangled states are proposed, and are generalized to teleportation of arbitrary multimode GHZ entangled states described by Van Loock and Braunstein (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 84 3482). Each mode of a multimode entangled state is teleported using a CV EPR entangled pair and classical communication. The analytical expression of fidelity for the multimode Gaussian states which evaluates the teleportation quality is presented. The analytical results show that the fidelity is a function of both the squeezing parameter r, which characterizes the multimode entangled state to be teleported, and the channel parameter p, which characterizes the EPR pairs shared by Alice and Bob. The fidelity increases with increasing p, but decreases with increasing r, i.e., it is more difficult to teleport the more perfect multimode entangled states. The entanglement degree of the teleported multimode entangled states increases with increasing both r and p. In addition, the fact is proved that our teleportation protocol of EPR entangled states using parallel EPR pairs as quantum channels is the best case of the protocol using four-mode entangled states (Adhikari et al 2008 Phys. Rev. A 77 012337).

Abstract:Thirty years after it was first proposed, quantum teleportation remains one of the most important protocols in quantum information and quantum technologies, enabling the nonlocal transmission of an unknown quantum state. Quantum teleportation can be used to overcome the distance limitation in directly transferring quantum states in quantum communication and the difficulty in realizing long-range interactions among qubits in quantum computation. Since 2015, experimental quantum teleportation has moved from simple to complex quantum states (multiple degrees of freedom, high-dimensional quantum states) and from proof-of-principle demonstrations to real-world applications. We overview these advances, in particular, the understanding of the nonclassical nature of quantum teleportation, the teleportation of complex quantum states, progress in experiments with photons, atoms and solid-state systems and applications to quantum communication and computation, and discuss the challenges and opportunities for future developments.
