Abstract:The Faddeev-Jackiw quantization method is applied to the complex scalar field coupled to the Abel Chem-Simons term, the results agree with the results obtained by using Dirac method. It is shown that this method is quite straightforward and elegant for this system.

Abstract:We study the problem of canonical quantization of classical scalar and Dirac field theories in the finite volumes respectively in this paper. Unlike previous studies, we work in a completely discrete version. We discretize both the space and time variables in variable steps and use the difference discrete variational principle with variable steps to obtain the equations of motion and boundary conditions as well as the conservation of energy in discrete form. For the case of classical scalar field, the quantization procedure is simpler since it does not contain any intrinsic constraint. We take the boundary conditions as primary Dirac constraints and use the Dirac theory to construct Dirac brackets directly. However, for the case of classical Dirac field in a finite volume, things are complex since, besides boundary conditions, it contains intrinsic constraints which are introduced by the singularity of the Lagrangian. Furthermore, these two kinds of constraints are entangled at the spatial boundaries. In order to simplify the process of calculation, we calculate the final Dirac brackets in two steps. We calculate the intermediate Dirac brackets by using intrinsic constraints. And then, we obtain the final Dirac brackets by bracketing the boundary conditions. Our studies show that we can not only construct well-defined Dirac brackets at each discrete space-time lattice but also keep the conservation of energy discretely at the same time.

Abstract:Complex vector fields with Maxwell, Chern-Simons and Proca terms are minimally coupled to an Abelian gauge field. The consistency of the spectrum is analysed and 1-loop quantum corrections to the self-energy are explicitly computed and discussed. The incorporation of 2-loop contributions and the behaviour of tree-level scattering amplitudes in the limit of high center-of-mass energies are also commented.

Abstract:We discuss the canonical quantization of $U(1)_k$ Chern-Simons theory on a spatial lattice. In addition to the usual local Gauss law constraints, the physical Hilbert space is defined by 1-form gauge constraints implementing the compactness of the $U(1)$ gauge group, and (depending on the details of the spatial lattice) non-local constraints which project out unframed Wilson loops. Though the ingredients of the lattice model are bosonic, the physical Hilbert space is finite-dimensional, with exactly $k$ ground states on a spatial torus. We quantize both the bosonic (even level) and fermionic (odd level) theories, describing in detail how the latter depends on a choice of spin structure.

Abstract:We obtain a new symplectic Lagrangian density and deduce Faddeev-Jackiw (FJ) generalized brackets of the gauge invariant self-dual fields interacting with gauge fields. We further give FJ quantization of this system. Furthermore, the FJ method is compared with Dirac method, the results show the two methods are equivalent in the quantization of this system. And by the practical research in this letter, it can be found that the FJ method is really simpler than the Dirac method, namely, the FJ method obviates the need to distinguish primary and secondary constraints and first- and second-class constraints. Therefore, the FJ method is a more economical and effective method of quantization.

Abstract:We study canonical and affine versions of the quantized covariant Euclidean free real scalar field-theory on four dimensional lattices through the Monte Carlo method. We calculate the two-point function at small values of the bare coupling constant and near the continuum limit at finite volume. Our investigation shows that affine quantization is able to give meaningful results for the two-point function for which is not available an exact analytic result and therefore numerical methods are necessary.

Abstract:The possibility of realizing lattice analogs of fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states, so-called fractional Chern insulators (FCIs), in nearly flat topological (Chern) bands has attracted a lot of recent interest. Here, we make the connection between Abelian as well as non-Abelian FQH states and FCIs more precise. Using a gauge-fixed version of Qi's Wannier basis representation of a Chern band, we demonstrate that the interpolation between several FCI states, obtained by short-range lattice interactions in a spin-orbit-coupled kagome lattice model, and the corresponding continuum FQH states is smooth: the gap remains approximately constant and extrapolates to a finite value in the thermodynamic limit, while the low-lying part of the orbital entanglement spectrum remains qualitatively unaltered. The orbital entanglement spectra also provide a first glimpse of the edge physics of FCIs via the bulk-boundary correspondence. Corroborating these results, we find that the squared overlaps between the FCI and FQH ground states are as large as 98.7% for the 8-electron Laughlin state at v = 1/3 (consistent with an earlier study) and 97.8% for the 10-electron Moore-Read state at v = 1/2. For the bosonic analogs of these states, the adiabatic continuity is also shown to hold, albeit with somewhat smaller associated overlaps, etc. Although going between the Chern bands to the Landau-level problem is often smooth, we show that this is not always the case by considering fermions at filling fraction v = 4/5, where the interpolation between Hamiltonians describing the two systems results in a phase transition. Fock quantization of a Klein-Gordon field in the interior geometry of a nonrotating black hole

Abstract:We study the canonical quantization of a scalar field in a Kantowski-Sachs spacetime. For simplicity, we consider compactified spatial sections, since this does not affect the ultraviolet behavior. A time-dependent canonical transformation is performed prior to quantization. As in previously studied cases, the purpose of this canonical transformation is to identify and extract the background contribution to the field evolution which is obstructing a unitary implementation of the field dynamics at the quantum level. This splitting of the time dependence into a background piece and the part to be seen as true quantum evolution is to a large extent determined by the unitarity requirement itself. The quantization is performed in the usual setup of Fock representations, demanding the preservation of the spatial symmetries. Under the joint requirements of quantum unitary dynamics and compatibility with those classical symmetries, the quantization is shown to be unique, in the sense that any two representations with these properties are unitarily equivalent. This confirms the validity of our conditions as criteria to discriminate among possibly inequivalent quantum descriptions. The interest of this analysis goes beyond cosmological applications since the interior of a nonrotating black hole has a geometry of the Kantowski-Sachs type.

Abstract:This review is devoted to measure theoretical methods in the canonical quantization of scalar field theories. We present in some detail the canonical quantization of the free scalar field. We study the measures associated with the free fields and present two characterizations of the support of these measures. The first characterization concerns local properties of the quantum fields, whereas for the second one we introduce a sequence of variables that test the field behaviour at large distances, thus allowing to distinguish between the typical quantum fields associated with different values of the mass.

Abstract:We discuss the problem of canonical quantization of electromagnetic field in the Schwarzschild spacetime. It is shown that a consistent procedure of canonical quantization of the field can be carried out without taking into account the internal region of the black hole. We prove that there exists a unitary gauge, which can be viewed as a combination of the Coulomb and Poincare gauges and is compatible with the field equations. The solutions corresponding to the stationary one-particle states of the electromagnetic field are studied, the canonical commutation relations and the Hamiltonian of the quantized electromagnetic field are obtained.

Abstract:Any four-dimensional Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theory with eight supercharges can be associated to a certain complex symplectic manifold called the "K-theoretic Coulomb branch" of the theory. The collection of K-theoretic Coulomb branches include many complex phase spaces of great interest, including in particular the "character varieties" of complex flat connections on a Riemann surface. The SQFT definition endows K-theoretic Coulomb branches with a variety of canonical structures, including a deformation quantization. In this paper we introduce a canonical "Schur" quantization of K-theoretic Coulomb branches. It is defined by a variant of the Gelfand-Naimark-Segal construction, applied to protected Schur correlation functions of half-BPS line defects. Schur quantization produces an actual quantization of the complex phase space. As a concrete application, we apply this construction to character varieties in order to quantize Chern-Simons gauge theory with a complex gauge group. Other applications include the definition of a new quantum deformation of the Lorentz group, and the solution of certain spectral problems via dualities.

Abstract:The symplectic analysis of a four dimensional $BF$ theory in the context of the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic approach is performed. It is shown that this method is more economical than Dirac's formalism. In particular, the complete set of Faddeev-Jackiw constraints and the generalized Faddeev-Jackiw brackets are reported. In addition, we show that the generalized Faddeev-Jackiw brackets and the Dirac ones coincide to each other. Finally, the similarities and advantages between Faddeev-Jackiw method and Dirac's formalism are briefly discussed.

Abstract:Using Faddeev-Senjanovic path integral quantization for constrained Hamilton system, we quantize SU(n) N=2 supersymmetric gauge field system with non-abelian Chern-Simons topological term in 2+1 dimensions, and use consistency of a gauge condition naturally to deduce another gauge condition. Further, we get the generating functional of Green function in phase space, deduce the angular momentum based on the global canonical Noether theorem at quantum level, obtain the fractional spin of this supersymmetric system, and show that the total angular momentum has the orbital angular momentum and spin angular momentum of the non-abelian gauge field. Finally, we find out the anomalous fractional spin and discover that the fractional spin has the contributions of both the group superscript components and the A_0^s (x) charge.

Abstract:Affine quantization is a relatively new procedure, and it can solve many new problems. This essay reviews this new, and novel, procedure for particle problems, as well as those of fields and gravity. New quantization tools, which are extremely close to, and even constructed from, the tools of canonical quantization, are able to fully solve selected problems that using the standard canonical quantization would fail. In particular, improvements can even be found with an affine quantization of fields, as well as gravity.

Abstract:In this paper, we apply the generalized integration constants method in field theory to quantize Maxwell and the Klein-Gordon free fields. The study is performed in both position and momentum spaces, to obtain equal-time Dirac brackets among the fields and their conjugate momenta. The idea is to obtain the brackets near the initial instant using the Taylor polynomial expansion, and then deduce directly their expressions at any later time. In the case of the Maxwell field, the interdependence of the field components (constraints) requires the use the Helmholtz theorem to separate the transversal and longitudinal parts. Abstract:The generalized Einstein action is treated quantum mechanically by using a quadratic lagrangian form. The canonical quantization of this action is obtained by using the auxiliary variable to define the generalized momentum. Physical constraints are imposed on the surface term, which is defined to be the cosmological constant. One obtains the familiar Wheeler-de Witt equation. The solution of this equation is in conformity with General Relativity (GR) .In addition to the fact that it is free from GR setbacks at the early universe, since it gives time decaying cosmological constant. The wave function of the universe and the cosmic scale factor are complex quantities, which indicates the existance of quantum effects.2.7k, CBR temperature is calculated.

Abstract:We address the issue of inequivalent Fock representations in Quantum Field Theory in a curved homogenous and anisotropic background, namely Kantowski-Sachs spacetime. A family of unitarily equivalent Fock representations that are invariant under the spatial isometries and implement a unitary dynamics can be achieved by means of a field redefinition that consists of a specific anisotropic scaling of the field configuration and a linear transformation of its momentum. Remarkably, we show that this kind of field redefinition is in fact unique under our symmetry and unitary requirements. However, the physical properties of the Hamiltonian dynamics that one obtains in this way are not satisfactory, inasmuch as the action of the Hamiltonian on the corresponding particle states is ill defined. To construct a quantum theory without this problem, we need a further canonical transformation that is time- and mode-dependent and is not interpretable as an anisotropic scaling. The old and new Fock representations, nevertheless, are unitarily equivalent. The freedom that is introduced when allowing for this further canonical transformation can be fixed by demanding an asymptotic diagonalization of the Hamiltonian and a minimal absorption of dynamical phases. In this way, the choice of vacuum and the associated Fock representation are asymptotically determined.

K^+ versus Λflow in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

Abstract:We study $K^+$ and $\Lambda$ flow in heavy-ion collisions at beam energies of about 2A GeV. We present our results in both the `traditional' (i.e., in terms of the average transverse momentum in the reaction plane) as well as `modern' (i.e., in terms of coefficients of the Fourier analysis of azimuthal distributions) methods of flow analysis. We find significant differences between the $K^+$ and the $\Lambda$ flow: while the $\Lambda$ flow is basically similar to that of nucleons, the $K^+$ flow almost disappears. This difference is attributed chiefly to their different mean field potentials in dense matter. The comparisons with the experimental data, as well as theoretical results from independent calculations, indicate clearly the pivotal roles of both $K^+$ and $\Lambda$ medium effects. We emphasize that similar experimental data from independent collaborations are essential for the eventual verification of these medium effects.

It is shown that a consistent procedure of canonical quantization of the field can be carried out without taking into account the internal region of the black hole, the canonical commutation relations in the resulting theory hold exactly and the Hamiltonian has the standard form. Spin sums are obtained for solutions of the Dirac equation in the Schwarzschild spacetime.
