Abstract:The carbon nanotubes/polymer nanocomposites have been one of the hottest researching projects in recent years.The carbon nanotubes have unique mechanical and excellent electrical properties,while the polymer matrix is usually easy to be processed and have a wide applicability,so the composites made from the two components can prepare a new material of performance excellence,use widespread.The fabrication methods and the characteristics as well as some applications of the nanocomposites were mainly expounded,at the same time the existent some problems were discussed in this article.

Abstract:Carbon nanotubes offer tremendous opportunities for the development of fundamentally new materials systems due to their remarkable physical and mechanical properties. The combination of carbon nanotubes with polymers offers an attractive route not only to reinforce polymer but also to introduce new electronic and optical properties, so polymer/carbon nanotubes composites have attracted much interest recently. The advance in polymer/carbon nanotubes composites was reviewed. The combination way between polymer and carbon nanotubes, the preparation techniques as well as some properties including mechanical, electrical and optical properties of polymer/carbon nanotubes composites were mainly introduced.

Abstract:In this paper,the application of the composites of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) reinforced thermosetting resins including epoxy resin(EP),phenolic resin(PF),bismaleimide resin(BMI),and cyanate resin(CE) was introduced,The recent development in research of these composites was reviewed.The inclusion of CNTs improved the mechanical,thermal,and frictional properties of the thermoset matrix.The measures to improve the dispersion of CNTs in epoxy resin and bismaleimide resin were presented.The present problems and development prospect of thermosetting resin/CNTs composites were also discussed.

Abstract:In the last twenty years,owing to the excellent properties,the novel carbon material (including fullerene,carbon nanotube,graphene,etc.) has opened up a number of applications in many areas. This paper summarizes composites of carbon nanotube and graphene with polyolefin. The composites are made by physical blending and polymerization in situ,which improves mechanical properties,crystallization and melting,thermal stability,and conductivity. Furthermore,breakthroughs have been made in the following aspects:field emission display device,hydrogen storage materials, battery,ultra-intense and super tough composite,microscopic probe,super-capacitor,electron gun, nano-electronic components,and sensors.

Abstract:The state-of-art and key problems of carbon nanotube (CNT) based polymer composites (CNT/polymer composites) including CNT/polymer structural composites and CNT/polymer functional composites are reviewed. Based on the results reported up to now, CNTs can be an effective reinforcement for polymer matrices, and the tensile strength and elastic modulus of CNT/polymer composites can reach as high as 3600 MPa and 80 GPa, respectively. CNT/polymer composites are also promising functional composite materials with improved electrical and thermal conductivity, etc. Due to their multi-functional properties, CNT/polymer composites are expected to be used as low weight structural materials, optical devices, thermal interface materials, electric components, electromagnetic absorption materials, etc. However, the full potential of CNT/polymer composites still remains to be realized. A few key problems, such as how to prepare structurecontrollable CNTs with high purity and consistently dependable high performance, how to break up entangled or bundled CNTs and then uniformly disperse and align them within a polymer matrix, how to improve the load transfer from matrix to CNT reinforcement, etc, still exist and need to be solved in order to realize the wide applications of these advanced composites.

Abstract:The latest progresses in the developments of nano-composites consisting of polycarbonate(PC) and carbon nano-tube (CNT) were reviewed. The physical properties of two kinds of CNT and preparation methods of PC/CNT nano-composite materials were described. The effects of CNT on mechanical, rheological and electrical properties as well as crystallization capacity of the nano-composite materials were expounded. In the recent years PC/CNT nano-composites already became the cynosure of the researcher's eyes in the study field of CNT.

Abstract:This paper reviewed conventional methods for dispersing carbon nanotubes in polymers with emphasis on techniques for characterizing dispersion of the carbon nanotubes and introduced synthetic processes of the polymer composites. The fact that adding carbon nanotubes can improve properties of polymer matrices to a certain degrees is already well-known, but the studies on directional dispersion of the carbon nanotubes in polymers and the combination mechanism between them are seldom published in the related literatures. The application fields of polymer/carbon nanotubes composites were introduced. As the carbon nanotubes′ synthesis, chemical modification and dispersion techniques improves ceaselessly, their application will shift gradually towards the fields in which the composites is produced with low dosage of the carbon nanotubes for high economic profit.

Abstract:Carbon nanotubes were one of nanomaterials with unique structure and significant advantages. Polymer nanocomposites filled with carbon nanotubes have attracted considerable attention by scientists in recent years. In this paper, the research and development of the chemical modification for carbon nanotube are summarized and the characterization and prospects of the functionalized carbon nanotubes are introduced. The methods of the chemical modification include carboxylation and its derivative reactions, cycloaddition, atom transfer radical polymerization, fluorination and its derivative reactions, alkylation and amination reaction, etc. In addition, chemical modification of carbon nanotubes by microwave irradiation is also introduced. At last the research direction of carbon nanotubes functionalized by chemical modification is predicted.
