Abstract:It has been demonstrated that numerous proteins interact with drugs or their metabolites. Knowledge of these proteins is necessary to understand the mechanisms of drug action and human response. Progress in modern genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry and pharmacology is generating a comprehensive mechanistic understanding of drug-target interaction on the molecular level. This is valuable for researchers and pharmaceutical companies in their efforts to improve the efficacy of existing drugs and to discover new ones. Most recently, the integration of a systems biology approach into drug discovery processes calls for more holistic knowledge and easily accessible resources of the proteins that are important in drug action and human response. We have reviewed many publicly accessible internet resources of these proteins, according to their roles in drug action and human response, such as therapeutic effect, adverse reaction, absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion.

Abstract:Background: Globally, mHealth is increasing as a promising technology for promoting the quality of health care. Thus, a growing number of internet hospitals have been established in China to avail all its advantages. However, no study has investigated the service scope and patient satisfaction of the internet hospital to date. Objective: The objective of our study was to explore the features of outpatients in general practice, the disease information, and the satisfaction through an internet rating site. Methods: We collected data from the internet hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University between February 2016 and February 2017. Patients visited Web-based clinic via a computer or smartphone. The data included patients' demographic characteristics, disease information, and patients' comments. Results: We enrolled 715 patients with 365 health-related problems. All health conditions involved diseases ranging from internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, stomatology to emergency. Among them, 63.1% patients (451/715) visited traditional hospitals for further management, 25.3% (181/715) had prescriptions, laboratory, or imaging examination appointment, 1% (9/715) used emergency service, and 10% (74/715) needed routine follow-up. All patients received health education. Almost all patients gave positive feedback and 4-5-star rating. Conclusions: The internet hospital is suitable for all health conditions with high satisfaction only when patients have the access to internet via a computer or smartphone.

Abstract:Objective:To identify the key medical technology frontiers by applying quantitative and qualitative methods collectively.Methods:Patent data in three fields of pharmaceutical technology,biomedical technology and medical devices were searched in the Thomson Innovation,and the methods of patentometrics and statistical trend analysis were used to analyze the patent data.The subfields chosen as frontiers had high standardized average of patent application quantities(pharmaceutical technology,biomedical technology and medical devices were selected with the standardized average of more than 10%,15% and 20% of the subfields,respectively),or had significant increasing trend(P0.05 and b0).Results:There were 12 medical key technology frontiers,4in pharmaceutical technology,they were natural products,general,heterocyclics and other organics;4 in biomedical technology,they were diagnosis and detection of diseases,gene therapy technology and nucleotide drugs,protein and polypeptide drugs,and biosynthesis technology;and 4 in medical devices,they were electrical medical equipment,diagnosis and surgery equipment,sterilising,syringes and electrotherapy equipment,and medical aids and oral administration equipment.Conclusions:There were 12 medical key technology frontiers by applying quantitative and qualitative methods collectively,and patent analysis could offer the comprehensive technology development and characteristics of the frontier,which could provide data and information for the development of medical technology policy.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To analyze the development of new drug introduction management,and to provide reference for the management of new drug introduction in medical institutions.METHODS:Related literatures in which title and keywords included "new drug introduction"were retrieved from VIP database during Jan.1998-Dec.2009,and statistical analysis was conducted during four periods.RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS:A total of 36 related literatures have been retrieved,the number of literatures during 2004-2006 is much higher than other three periods.It may be associated with the implementation of Prescription Management Method(trial).Review and comments was in a decreasing tendency(37.5%,50%,21.4%,12.5%).Researchers reached unanimous agreement on new drug introduction,and other aspects should be strengthened.Management case literatures always take up the high proportion(62.5%,50%,46.8%,50%).Research method literatures have appeared since 2004(0,0,35.7%,37.5%),it indicates that focus of researchers have been shifted to new drug introduction management,which become the breakthrough points of its development.

Abstract:Recently, integrative pharmacology(IP) has become a pivotal paradigm for the modernization of traditional Chinese medicines(TCM) and combinatorial drugs discovery, which is an interdisciplinary science for establishing the in vitro and in vivo correlation between absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion/pharmacokinetic(ADME/PK) profiles of TCM and the molecular networks of disease by the integration of the knowledge of multi-disciplinary and multi-stages. In the present study, an internet-based Computation Platform for IP of TCM(TCM-IP, www.tcmip.cn) is established to promote the development of the emerging discipline. Among them, a big data of TCM is an important resource for TCM-IP including Chinese Medicine Formula Database, Chinese Medical Herbs Database, Chemical Database of Chinese Medicine, Target Database for Disease and Symptoms, et al. Meanwhile, some data mining and bioinformatics approaches are critical technology for TCM-IP including the identification of the TCM constituents, ADME prediction, target prediction for the TCM constituents, network construction and analysis, et al. Furthermore, network beautification and individuation design are employed to meet the consumer's requirement. We firmly believe that TCM-IP is a very useful tool for the identification of active constituents of TCM and their involving potential molecular mechanism for therapeutics, which would wildly applied in quality evaluation, clinical repositioning, scientific discovery based on original thinking, prescription compatibility and new drug of TCM, et al.

Abstract:Objective:With the fast increasing of patent applications and authorizations in the field of pharmaceutical industry in China, it is of great significance to deploy the international market in advance. This study takes the overseas patent application work of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University as an example, to explore feasible methods that suitable for research-oriented hospitals to help high-value patents enter the international market.Methods:Based on the working procedures and common ways of overseas patents declared by Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University from 2018 to 2020, this study analyzes the process of international applications of scientific of technological innovation achievements of research-oriented hospitals and summarizes the elements of patent application through working practices.Results:A standardized international patent application approach in public hospitals should include the following six parts: value evaluation before international patent filing, selection of the country when entering the national phase, professional assistance of patent agency company, hospital internal audit process, multi-channel access to intellectual property management and operating capital support, professional talent team construction.Conclusions:A set of standardized procedures for the application of overseas patents in Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University can help high-value patents enter the advanced market, which is operable and worthy for further generalization in other research hospitals.

Abstract:The development of the biomedical industry is highly dependent on patented technology.As the highest scientific and technological content in the intellectual property, patent covered most of the important scientific and technological achievements.This article searched the patent of Chinese Biomedicine Industry from 1993 to 2016 on the perspective of patent information.The cumulative number of patent applications of Chinese Biomedicine Industry represents the technological development level, this paper analysis the patent trends in terms of annual trends in patent applications, major applicant analysis, technology lifecycle, key regional distribution, patented IPC and patent law status analysis, so as to grasp the Chinese Biomedicine Industry`s development status and trends, explore the focus and hotspot of technology development.This paper aims at promoting the technical innovation of biomedical industry in China to provide evidence of the patent information, and provide reference for the formulation of policies related to technological innovation in the biomedical industry.

METHODS:The basic theory of Chinese medicine was applied to analyze the current common problems encountered by western medicine physicians in the use of Chinese patent drugs. RESULTS CONCLUSION:In the clinical use of Chinese patent drugs, the western medicine physicians should give consideration of the specific condition and get a detailed knowledge of drug constituents and the related clinical data as well as strictly follow the specification of drug package inserts.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To facilitate Chinese pharmaceutical industry's understanding and application of the new Patent Law.METHODS:The amendment of the Patent Law related to 3 aspects of medicine,i.e.specifying regulations on the information disclosure in the utilization of genetic resources,adding the clause of forced permission for the patent drugs for the purpose of public health,and introducing the Bolar exception clause was analyzed using law hermeneutic.RESULTS CONCLUSIONS:The medicine-related amendment of the new Patent Law generally reflects an international tendency of restricting pharmaceutical patents so as to maintain public interests,which is in line with the status quo of low technological level of pharmaceutical industry in China.

Abstract:Background: The popularity of the Internet has enabled unprecedented access to health information. As a largely unregulated source, there is potential for inconsistency in the quality of information that reaches the patient. Aims: To review the literature relating to the quality indicators of health information for patients on the Internet. Method: A search of English language literature was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar and EMBASE databases. Results: Many articles have been published which assess the quality of information relating to specific medical conditions. Indicators of quality have been defined in an attempt to predict higher quality health information on the Internet. Quality evaluation tools are scoring systems based on indicators of quality. Established tools such as the HONcode may help patients navigate to more reliable information. Google and Wikipedia are important emerging sources of patient health information. Conclusion: The Internet is crucial for modern dissemination of health information, but it is clear that quality varies significantly between sources. Quality indicators for web-information have been developed but there is no agreed standard yet. We envisage that reliable rating tools, effective search engine ranking and progress in crowd-edited websites will enhance patient access to health information on the Internet.

Abstract:Objective: The blossom of nanotechnology leads to substantive changes in biomedical field, which dramatically improves the effectiveness of disease diagnosis and treatment. However, when the products are used into human body, it evokes a series thought and the toxicology is reported successively. Therefore, the scientists around the world appeal that before the commercial benefits of these materials can be fully realized, the evaluation of the human health implications of exposure to nanoscale materials will be urgently needed. Furthermore, to well understand their properties and characteristics both outside and within the biological environment is benefit for revealing the toxicological and bioactive mechanisms. Data Sources: The English-published articles were partly cited from the 7th World Biomaterials Congress and the others were searched in Medline Database between July 1999 and February 2006 by using the key words of "Nano Safety, nanotoxicology, nanomaterials", and the language was limited to English. Meanwhile, the website http://www.cqvip.com.cn was searched for related articles using the same key words in Chinese. Study Selection: The data were selected firstly and finally 48 articles about the safety evaluation of nanomaterials and characteristic of nanoscale materials were collected. Data Extraction: Among the 48 articles, 12 pieces were excluded due to the repeated or similar contents. The selected 36 literatures were classified and arranged, out of which 26 were selected in the references. Data Synthesis: Biomedical nanomaterials applied in diagnosis, treatment of disease and tissue repair can enter the body through many approaches and reach to every part through blood circulation. Being different from regular biomaterials, nanomaterials are comparatively small and have a lot of special physico-chemical properties, which can result in some special biological effects. Conclusion: That nanostructure can induce some special biological activities demands that it is not scientific and satisfactory to detect the biological safety of nano pharmaceutical products by using the traditional screening approaches. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to their physico-chemical properties and the existence in body when evaluating the safety of nanomaterials.
An Empirical Study on Patients′risk of Access to Online Medical Information

Abstract:Objective To explore the critical risk points and major current threats for patients to access online medical information. Methods The patient perception value questionnaire was used, to sample survey 1 164 patients with online medical experiences from hospitals in Zhejiang province in January 2018.Their risks in accessing online medical information was evaluated.The evaluation results were ranked according to their importance and satisfaction, and a cross comparison was made between the two, to identify the top ranking factors and the highest difference factor.Descriptive statistics and related analysis methods were used for the data so obtained.Results Health risks and privacy risks were the highest concerns for patients in accessing online medical information.Among the risk factors, information content credibility and transmission channel credibility rank top two.A cross-comparison found that factors of good risk control for online medical information were information author credibility, transmission mode reliability and service risk in turn. The factor of the worst risk control was privacy, while the most problematic risk points were information type credibility and transmission channel credibility.Conclusions The present focus should be placed on the factors of privacy risks and the credibility of information delivery channels, and the main cause of risks is the regulatory awareness.In this consideration, it is suggested that the relevant risk indicators be hierarchically managed according to the current perception characteristics in patients′ online medical access risks, with measures taken accordingly to minimize their risk in such information access.
