Abstract:Belt conveyors are widely used in the areas of coal, ports, electric power, chemical, etc, to transport bulk solid. The traditional design methods have many defects, such as long design cycle, prone to error, and it is unable to meet the needs of modern society. This paper presents a new method of designing belt conveyors, the 3D visual rapid design platform based on the AutoCAD software for the design of belt conveyors. This platform uses Visual Basic software to develop the rapid design program, establishes the stereo models of the belt conveyor by extending the functions of AutoCAD with ObjectARX. So it builds the three-dimensional design environment in which the designers can adjust the structure of the belt conveyor based on the actual environment, manage the parts of the belt conveyor and get the engineering drawing of the belt conveyor. This platform increases the design speed and improves the design quality. ©2010 IEEE.

Abstract:A method based on three-dimensional technology to aided design of new pipe inserting into underground water supply and drainage pipe has been researched on. Because of its distinct curvature and multiple distortions, the spatial model is very complex, so the general three-dimensional pipe design software can’ t be used in this pro-ject. The unreliability will be existed if the planar design is on the basis of the profile diagram. Therefore, the com-puter three-dimensional graphics technology can be a feasible solution to this problem. The maximum diameter of new pipe is obtained by using the three-dimensional object collision detection. Three-dimensional arc fitting based on spherical linear quaternion interpolation was adopted and three-dimensional modeling of complex pipe was real-ized. The adopted object collision detection algorithm based on triangle unit is simple and applicative. A modeling and collision demonstration software based on OpenSceneGraph three-dimensional engineer was developed to in-spect and verify a design project, the correctness of the method was confirmed by the result.

Abstract:By using the interface of AutoCAD with advanced computer language,a method of 3D-FEM modeling and postprocessing for landslide is proposed.With this method,those initial data are made visualized,not only it is understood easily,but also it handles the affair more quickly,more precisely and more effectively;so it has effectively solved the contradict that the landslide initial data and computational data can not be easily changed to graphics in CAD.At last,taking the Taizishang slope for instance,the results made by 3D-FEM modeling are shown in graphics.

Abstract:How to build the three dimensional model of the geologic body quickly and truly is a difficult problem which lies in the front of the numerical simulation operators. Although the three-dimensional (3D) geoscience simulation software has good 3D geological modelling ability, it can be difficult to join the corresponding geological model established by 3D study simulation software with numerical simulation software because of the difference in data structures. A majority of CAD software have good data connection with the present numerical analysis software. This paper presents a study on how to use CAD software to establish 3D geological model for 3D visualization and numerical simulation purposes. The 3D modeling of some highway slopes in Yunnan is used an examples to illustrate this approach is convenient, accurate and reasonable.

Abstract:We use Delphi7.0 to develop the windows visual software for gravity and magnetic potential field continuation from undulate terrain or line to plane surface or line.For mapping module of the software,Surfer 8.0 and Grapher3.0 are called to draw contour maps for 3D grid data and profile maps for 2D data by using ActiveX technology.This method can help the users observe the characteristic of the potential field quickly and conveniently and make the data processing and interpretation simpler and easier.

Abstract:In this paper, methods and techniques newly developed are presented for high-quality curve and surface modeling in CAD systems. The data structure and data exchange are based on STEP, the international standard for external representation of product data. While accurate algebraic representation is used for lower degree curves and surfaces, NURBS (Nonuniform Rational Bspline Surface) representation is adopted as a unified approach to advanced curve and surface design. We thus have both advantages for accurate shape processing in CAD/CAM and high-quality design of shapes with free-form surfaces.<>

Abstract:As the surface visualization model is an important part of the three-dimensional geological mapping, automatically surface visualization modeling has very strong practicability. Using the elevation information provided by DEM (Digital Elevation Model), the surface visualization model which represents geological properties can be constructed costly and effectively. The paper discussed some data processing technologies in the application of geological surface modeling from the authors’ development work. Abstract:Urban 3D geological modeling is one of the key technologies of geological data visualization and spatial analysis. Aiming at the problems of cumbersome modeling process, low modeling efficiency, and accuracy of traditional modeling methods based on borehole data, in this paper, a fast 3D geological modeling method based on CAD borehole data is proposed. The method first designed a method for rapidly extracting borehole log information which is based on .Net API (c#). On this basis, knowledge-driven 3D geological modeling method based on profile data is employed. With these methods, the borehole data in CAD format can be converted to structured data, which can be directly used for data analysis, and the geological knowledge can be analyzed and integrated into the process of three-dimensional geological modeling. The feasibility of this method is verified using the CAD borehole data in the West District of Kaifeng City as an example. The results show that this method can not only realize the rapid construction of urban 3D geological model but also improve the accuracy of 3D geological model.

Abstract:The expression of quick-speed integration formation of DEM and contours under 3D and virtual circumstance is introduced in this paper.First,the realization process of quick-speed generating DEM based on two kinds of algorithms of mobile fitting and mobile weighted average method is discussed.The interpolation of that mobile fitting method replaced by mobile weighted average method can heighten greatly interpolation efficiency in the bizarre area of sampling point.Under 3D visualization environment,the principle and method of DEM and contour integration display is discussed,and the triangle surface string sequence method is discussed in emphasis,too.At last,an actual example is given in the valley harnessing planning application.

Abstract:In this paper,a simple,rapid and intuitive GIS-based 3D geological modeling and visualization method is introduced.The borehole data extraction program was implemented based on the VBA function of ArcGIS for creating the 3D borehole models;Then,the spatial interpolation tool was used for constructing the multi-stratum TIN surface models,and the fault lines was digitized for creating the 3D faults which are combined into one geological structure model;In addition,a 3D geological visualization prototype system based on SceneControl components was implemented using C# and the constructed 3D geological was represented on it.A series test results show the methods of this paper operate not only very simply,but also can get better visualization effect,meanwhile,the short system development time is very short.As results,our methods can be widely applied for geosciences research,engineering application and other related fields.

Abstract:This paper applied some software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Excel and other related analytical module to calculate the design elevation of mountain leveling, which based on the DEM and other GIS technology. The basic hypothesis was the filling-digging volumes should be equal. This paper simplified traditional methods which divided multi-platform by square grids or TIN grids and introduced terrain characteristic lines into the mountain leveling. Then it proposed to account the cost based on the local situation, and compared multiple schemes to choose the best one in order to provide scientific basis for local government. At last, it provided ordered implementation scheme to construction. Because of its innovation and practicality, this paper laid a theoretical and practical foundation, to a certain extent, in the areas of mountain leveling in mountainous cities.

Abstract:With the three-dimensional (3D) geological information system development, 3D geological cross-sections (GCs) have become the primary data for geological work and scientific research. Throughout past geological surveys or research works, a lot of two-dimensional (2D) geological cross-section maps have been accumulated, which struggle to meet the scientific research and application needs of 3D visual expression, 3D geological analysis, and many other aspects. Therefore, this paper proposes an automatic generation method for 3D GCs by increasing the dimensions based on a digital elevation model (DEM) and 2D geological cross-section maps. By matching corresponding nodes, generating topographic feature lines, constructing an affine transformation matrix, and inferring the elevation value of each geometric node on the GC, the 3D transformation of the 2D GCs is realized. In this study, fourteen 2D GCs within Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, are transformed into 3D GCs using the proposed method. The transformed results and quantitative error show that: (1) the proposed method applies to both straight and bent GCs; (2) each transformed GC can fit seamlessly with the ground and maintain minimal geometric deformation, and the geometric shape is consistent with the original GC in non-mountains area. This paper corroborated the proposed method's effectiveness by comparing it with the other two 3D transformation strategies. In addition, the transformed GCs can be subjected to 3D geological modeling and digital Earth presentation, achieving positive effects in both 3D application and representation.

Then a project example of Runyang Changiiang River Road Bridge is given to explain this modeling process.The practice shows that 3D Geoscience Modeling technique is a powerfultool to analyse complex geological objects,and it has a wide appliedperspective.

Abstract:Three-dimensional GIS is more and more extensively used in the modeling and analyzing of geological bodies.It has the advantages of intuition,real and powerful analysis functions.The High-Cutting Slope is a special kind of geological body,which has its own characteristics and is necessary to be modeled in an integrated way.It is appropriate and efficient to develop a visualized and aided analysis system of the high-cutting slopes using the 3D GIS.By studying the 3D visualized modeling algorithms,we noticed that there isn't an algorithm which can effectively model underground objects,ground objects and ground surface from the same viewport and at the same time,but it is needed in the modeling of the high-cutting slopes because of their characteristics and potential hazards.As a result of this,we proposed a new concept of underground ground surface-ground objects integrated visualization which points out the way to solve the problem of integrated model.Based on this new concept,we extended the data structure and modeling algorithm of 3D GIS,and implemented some relative functions such as: three-dimensional navigation,format converting from common GIS data formats,visualization of the integrated models and so on by using OpenGL and C#.We also implemented some spatial analysis functions such as spatial query and spatial plane slice based on the new data structure,and developed an information system which is currently used in the monitoring and early-warning information system for the high-cutting slopes in the Three Gorges Area.

Abstract:Through reverse modeling, the modeling of complex parts of curved surface bodies can obtain editable CAD data models. This paper analysis and compares the common reverse modeling methods of complex parts of curved surface bodies and carries out the reverse modeling of somatosensory controllers with complex surfaces by using the reverse software Geomagic Design X as the platform, using the methods of surface sheet fitting, lofting, lofting wizard, and surface filling. And the modeling files obtained can be directly applied to the 3D design software. This shortens the product development cycle while improving model accuracy, providing a quick and effective solution for “reverse engineering-based geometry reconstruction.”

Abstract:In this paper, the mixed modeling method combining surface modeling and volume modeling is used to construct urban subsurface geological structure firstly using existing technique of 3D modeling and visualization for reference, which considers effectively the layer and block structure characteristic inside urban subsurface geological body. Then, volume visualization scheme is designed and 3D volume visualization of subsurface quaternary geological structure is made based on Visual C++.NET and OpenGL in a city of eastern China. Many functions have been achieved, such as monolayer and multilayer visualization display of geological body and multi-angle of view dynamic display including zooming in, zooming out, rotation and roam of urban subsurface geological body. 3D inner geological structure of urban subsurface geological body also is displayed preferably through linear cutting, slope cutting, poly-line cutting and polygon cutting etc.

Abstract:Generation of triangular meshes for digital terrain model is studied, the triangulation algorithm of discrete points and edges and its data structure are presented. Occurring in digital terrain model constructed from contours, the flat region fails to reflect the true shape of the surface, so a corrective method of flat triangles is also provided. According to this approach, a computer program for constructing digital terrain model from contours is developed using Microsoft Visual C++ 4.2 on the AutoCAD R14 for Windows platform.

Abstract:3D Geological modeling technology can more intuitively represents the 3D structures and spatial distribution of rock formations of subsurface,when it is compared with traditional 2D geological mapping technology.It has important applications in planning,design,construction and risk assessment of the engineering projects.Modeling objects often involves complex geological bodies in engineering fields.In order to improve the automatic level of 3D geological modeling,this paper proposes an automatic method of modeling complex geological bodies based on ArcGIS Model Builder.First,the borehole data and geological section maps are used as data source.The Python object-oriented programming language and ArcPy package are combined for automatic preprocessing of the drilling data.Secondly,the function of automatic vectorization of ArcScan and the human computer interaction(HCI) of SkechUp are combined for extracting the 2D and 3D fault lines and then stored in GIS spatial database.Thirdly,the Model Builder of ArcGIS,a visual modeling tool,is used for automatically creating the 3D solid models of strata and the 3D surface models of faults using the data processing,file conversion and 3D analysis tools of the ArcToolbox.Fourthly,the cutting,cross-section and excavation polygons are vectorized respectively as the inputs of the 3D analyst tool of Extrude between extended using ArePy.The 3D visualization tool of ArcScene is used for realizing multiple types of visualization.Finally,the drilling data acquired from the 3D geological survey in Nanjing Xianlin area are used for practical modeling test.The modeling results show that the method has accurate,rapid and automatic advantages,which can provide reliable technical solutions for large-scale and mass geological modeling.

Abstract:Abstract Automatic CAD design is difficult in construction field, since the construction environments vary case by case. Although the steps are similar, each creation is very time-consuming. Therefore, in this research a method that could automatically generate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings from the onsite measured geomorphological features is proposed to solve the complicated and similar process. This proposed method was implemented through the API (Application Programmable Interface) of CAD system and has been verified in practice that labor costs and time costs have been greatly reduced. In addition, mixed reality is applied to verify the assembly results, and an effective and realistic experience is provided to the user and the customer.

Abstract:The technology of 3D geological modeling is a powerful tool for representing the geological structures and subsurface strata distribution, which can effectively assist in the geological interpretation and analysis work. However, most existing modeling methods usually need the supports of professional geological modeling software. These systems often have tedious data preprocessing, complex modeling and visualization processes, and non-professionals have difficulty mastering them in a short time. In order to improve the operability and intuitiveness for 3D geological modeling and visualization, this paper proposes a semi-automatic method for 3D modeling and visualizing complex geological bodies by combining typical GIS systems and 3D modeling software such as ArcGIS and SketchUp. First, the Python object-oriented program language and Arcpy package are combined for preprocessing borehole data automatically. Next, the multiple 3D analysis and file conversion tools of Arctoolbox and ModelBuilder are combined for constructing a model to generate strata interfaces. Then, the makefaces and Boolean plug-ins of SketchUp are combined for semi-automatically constructing the 3D model of complex geological bodies and implementing various forms of visualization. Last, the borehole data and geological maps acquired from the geological survey are used for testing our modeling method. The modeling processes and results show that the method can quickly construct the 3D model of complex geological bodies with very complex geological structures such as missing strata, faults and lenses. This paper shows the simplicity and practicality of the proposed method for modeling and visualizing complex geological bodies.
