Abstract:Electrochemical repair technologies are important methods to upgrade the durability for existing reinforced concrete, which can effectively remove harmful chloride ion, extending the life of structures. When applying electrochemical repair technologies to reinforced concrete, hydrogen evolution reaction would occur at the cathode. When reinforcement of the hydrogen concentration reaches a critical value, the reinforced plastic will reduce, and formed, developed into a crack, leading to reinforced hydrogen embrittlement. Carried out different electrochemical parameters of electrochemical repair test, and used physical and mechanical means to analysis hydrogen-induced plasticity decrease. Results showed that hydrogen-induced plasticity decrease was related to current density and stress levels. When the stress state of structures became clear, electrochemical repair can be applied to structures by using proper current density, in order to control plastic damage within the acceptable range of engineering, so that to achieve the goal of controlling hydrogen embrittlement of steel.
