Abstract:Mycobaterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a stubborn pathogenic bacterium for human to overcome.As one of the most important components of the innate immune system,macrophages (Mφ) play a vital role in host defense against external pathogens.The interaction among these cells has always been studied extensively.The study of Mtb has become increasingly important because of the emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains of Mtb and the resurgent tuberculosis.Understanding the defense mechanisms of Mφ against Mtb and the mechanism used by Mtb to evade the cytolytic effect of Mφ will become a new targets for the prevention and treatment of the disease.
