Abstract:In order to investigate the effects of food waste ( FW )/municipal sludge ( MS ) ratio on the reactor performance and microbial community diversity at the mesophilic temperature (38±0. 5)℃,lab-scale experiments were carried out at five volatile solid ( VS) ratios of FW:MS at 1:0,0:1,1:1,1:2, and 2:1. High-throughput sequencing technique was also used to reveal the microbial community composition of the anaerobic digestion system. Results showed that food waste ( FW)/municipal sludge ( MS ) ratio had complex influences on methane yield and microbial community. The accumulative maximum methane yield ( VS ) 232. 86 L/kg and removal of volatile solid content ( 46. 09%) were obtained when food waste ( FW)/municipal sludge ( MS) ratio was controlled at 1:1. High-throughput sequencing indicated that Bacteroidetes and Methanosarcina dominated in whole process of all the mixed systems. In conclusion,co-digestion system could significantly improve methane production by increasing microbial community diversity and synergistic effects between different species.
