Abstract:A new species of the genus Nilothauma Kieffer, N. pandum sp. n., is described, and its morphological descriptions and illustrations are also given. A key to the males of Nilothauma is given. The adult male of N. pandum sp. n. can be distinguished from known species of the genus by the following combination of characters: anal point very broadly lanceolate with microtrichia in median ridge and apical margin, rounded at apex; superior volsella pad-like, expanded distally; median volsella curved, rounded at apex, with 2 long basal setae and 1 long median seta.

Abstract:Microtendipes globosus sp. nov. (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Xishan Island, China is described and illustrated from a male imago. The new species is characterized by a spherical median volsella with 9-10 long setae, the basal lobe of the superior volsella with 10-12 setae, tergite IX without median seta, and the absence of pigment marks on the wings. An identification key to the males belonging to the genus Microtendipes in China is provided.

Abstract:Classification of species is commonly based on morphological, molecular, and distribution depending on the taxa. Macromotettixoides Zheng, Wei & Jiang, 2005 and Formosatettix Tinkham, 1937 are both wingless types of Tetrigidae with extremely similar morphological characteristics, and in the current taxonomic system they are placed in two different subfamilies, Metrodorinae and Tetriginae , respectively. It is difficult to clearly identify the species of these two genera by morphological characteristics, and molecular data is often needed to assist identification. Here, the complete mitogenomes of two new species were sequenced and assembled, with that of Macromotettixoides orthomargina . Molecular data of species of Formosatettix were used to test the monophyly of Macromotettixoides and to re-assess the generic characters, and also to test whether Macromotettixoides belongs to the Asian Metrodorinae or Tetriginae . Furthermore, mitochondrial characteristics were analyzed and the phylogeny of the Tetrigidae reconstructed based on mitochondrial protein-coding genes ( PCGs ). The results indicated that the two new species were clustered with Macromotettixoides rather than Formosatettix , and the anterior margin of the fastigium and pronotum of the two new species usually had the humeral angle different from that of Formosatettix . Therefore, after integrating morphological and molecular data, the two new species were placed in the genus Macromotettixoides , M. maoershanensis sp. nov. and M. brachycorna sp. nov. Finally, a phylogenetic reconstruction supported Macromotettixoides being assigned to Tetriginae rather than Metrodorinae , in contrast to the previous classification of this genus.

Abstract:Seven species of the genus Phanerotomella Szepligeti were previously reported from China: P. bicoloratus He et Chen, 1995, P. bouceki Zettel, 1989,P. pulchra Fahtinger, 1934, P. sinensis Zettel, 1989, P. taiwanensis Zettel, 1989, P. townesi Zettel, 1989, and P. zhejiangensis He et Chen, 1995. The eighth species of this genus from China is described in this paper: P. xizangensis He et Chen, sp. nov.. The type is kept in the Parasitic Hymenoptera Collection, Institute of Applied Entomology, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou. Phanerotomella xizangensis He et Chen, sp. nov. (Figs. 1～7) 　　This species is similar to P. bouceki Zettel, 1989, but can be separated from the latter by having the temple in dorsal view 1.2 times eye, width of face as long as height of face and clypeus combined, face with a dorsal median small tubercle, and below this tubercle with fine divergent rugae, propodeum with 4 strong teeth and a distinct week transverse carina, second submarginal cell with a short petiole dorsally, length of vein 1-CU1 of fore wing 0.37 times vein 2-CU1, length of carapace 1.85 times its width, and carapace with comb-like rugae, body black to blackish brown. 　　Holotype, ♀, Xizang, Tongmai (20.1°N, 95.0°E), 2050 m, 26-Ⅶ-1978, Li Fasheng, no. 871937.

Abstract:During our studying of the fauna of Tibet, China, many specimens of the subfamily Tachininae ( Diptera , Tachinidae ) were collected and examined. Three species are described here as new to science, Leskia latisurstyla sp. nov. , Trichoformosomyia cuonaensis sp. nov. , and Tachina jilongensis sp. nov. , and two species, Nemoraea javana (Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1894) and N. echinata Mesnil, 1953, are newly recorded from Tibet. In addition to their descriptions, illustrations, and diagnoses, three identification keys are provided. The specimens in this study are kept in the Insect Collection of Shenyang Normal University, China ( SYNU ).

Abstract:A new species group, Hesperus babai group, is proposed based on characters of the subserrate antennae and apical portion of median lobe hatchet-like, along with description of a new species: H. pengi sp. n. (Hainan). A new species of the Hesperus borneensis group is described: H. flexibilis sp. n. (Xizang). Hesperus birmanus Cameron, 1932 is newly recorded from China (Yunnan, Hainan). Habitus and diagnostic characteristics of all mentioned species are provided. A key to Chinese species of the borneensis group and babai group are also provided.

Abstract:The genus Tzustigmus Finnamore (Crabronidae: Pemphredoninae: Pemphredonini) from China is reviewed and a key to the world species is provided. Three new species, T. denserectus Ma and Chen from Shaanxi Province, China: T. caputipunctatus Ma and Li from Shaanxi and Henan Provinces, China; and T. pesangulatus Ma and Li from Yunnan Province are described and illustrated. Two species are reported from China for the first time: T. khmer Finnamore and T. syam Finnamore.

Abstract:In the present study, a new species of Macrolycus s. str. is reported from China and described as M. subapicis sp. nov. M. bowringi Waterhouse, 1878 is recorded to China for the first time. The above two species, M. oreophilus Kazantsev, 2002 and M. gansuensis Kazantsev, 2002 are illustrated with the male habitus and genitalia. In addition, a distribution map, and a key to the species of Macrolycus s. str. in the world are provided.

Abstract:Two new species, Macropelopia ( Macropelopia ) excavata Xu & Fu, sp. nov. and Macropelopia ( Macropelopia ) quadrimacula Xu & Fu, sp. nov. , are described as male adults. A key to identify the males of Macropelopia from China is provided. Furthermore, in order to ascertain the genetic distance between these species and their morphological characteristics, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene sequences were uploaded to the National Center for Biotechnology Information. These COI sequences were then utilized to infer the relationships between the species, employing the neighbor-joining method.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Mongolotettix Rehn, 1928 from China, i.e. Mongolotettix wulingyuanensis sp. nov. and Mongolotettix. shaanxiensis sp. nov. are described herein. M. wulingyuanensis sp. nov. is similar to M. angustiseptus Wan, Ren & Zhang, 1998, but differs from the latter by body larger, length of body ♂ 25.6 mm, ♀ 39.1mm; tegmina of male without a white stripe on the fore margin at base; subgenital plate of male conical, sides concave, apex acute; both outer sides of epiphallus without acute projection in the middle. M. shaanxiensis sp. nov. is similar to M. anomopterus (Caudell, 1921), but differs from the latter by tegmina of male longer, reaching the end of epiproct, without a white stripe on the fore margin at base, tegmina of female longer, reaching the middle of 2nd abdominal tergum, width of epiphallus larger than height, upper ovipositor valve slender, length 3.8 times its maximum width. A key to all nine known species of the genus from China is given. Type specimens are deposited in the Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining, 810001, China.

A new subgenus, Anopliminanga subgen. nov., is proposed to include two species (Minanga achterbergi Sharkey and Minanga brevicarinata sp. nov.). A key to species of the genus Minanga is updated. The distribution of Minanga and the new subgenus are briefly discussed.
