Abstract:Since the last 1980s, the western flower thrip [Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)] has spread from its original distribution in western North America to other continents and become a major worldwide pest of agriculture and horticulture. In this paper, we analyze the status and possible reason of the diffusion. Based on relevant literatures and also propose strategies for controlling the pest in China.
