Trends and Features in the Development of International Bio-economy

Abstract:Bio-economy is built based on biological resources and biotechnology, including the production, circulation and use of bio-technology products and services. Bio-economy is the fourth wave of industrial revolution after the agricultural economy, industrial econ-omy and information economy, and is becoming the new economic growth point. Biotechnology industry is a pillar industry in many countries. The paper is based on the follow-up study to new revolution of science and technology and biological economy for 20 years con-secutively, combining with the comparative study to bio-economy and biotechnology development in 29 countries and regions world-wide. Results shows that biotechnology is playing a leading role in the formation of new revolution of science and technology, and nu-merous technologies is accelerating it. The development of bio-economy has been showing a new and unprecedented trends and features.
