Reform of Experimental Teaching in Harbor Waterway and Coastal Engineering Based on the "Training Outstanding Engineers" Concept

Abstract:Experimental teaching is an important indication of a university's comprehensive ability in teaching,research and management,which has a great influence on the student training.On the basis of the previous experimental teaching and the national project of "Training Outstanding Engineers",the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of College of Civil Engineering at Tongji University put forward an outstanding plan for the undergraduate students whose major in harbor waterway and coastal engineering.The objective of this plan is to train high-quality inter-disciplinary talents to be suitable to the new era.Taking the training mode of major in harbor waterway and coastal engineering from Department of Hydraulic Engineering of Tongji University as an example,this paper presents and sums up the reform of experimental teaching from three main aspects,i.e.upgrading of experimental teaching system,intensifying excellent courses and creating excellent experiments,the reform can provide some suggestions and references for others' teaching reforms.
