The influence of health education for the whole process on pregnancy outcomes of patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of health education for the whole process on pregnancy outcomes of patients with gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM ) .Methods This survey was made on 76 cases of GDM who took regular antenatal examination in outpatient clinic of obstetrics from January 2012 to may 2013 and delivered in the First Affiliated Hospital of Medical College of Xi ’ an Jiaotong University .They were randomly divided into experiment group and control group with 38 cases in both groups .The experiment group was given health education for the whole process based on routine clinical treatment and care , while the control group was provided with regular treatment and care only .Results The compliance of the experiment group on alimentary control was obviously higher than the control group, and the difference was significant (χ2 =21.387,P<0.05).The incidence of fetal macrosomia, cesarean section, and neonatal asphyxia of the experiment group was lower than that of the control group , and there were significant differences (χ2 value was 4.253, 4.266 and 4.259, respectively, all P<0.05).Conclusion Strengthening the health education on the patients with GDM can improve the compliance of alimentary control , so that the incidence of all kinds of perinatal complications can be reduced and the maternal and fetal outcomes can be improved remarkably .
