Curative effect of acupoint catgut-embedding combined with Diane-35 in treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome: a Meta analysis

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of acupoint catgut-embedding combined with Diane-35 in treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).Methods The literatures of prospective randomized case-control study about acupoint catgut-embedding combined with Diane-35 and single use of Diane-35 in treatment of PCOS published from January 2007 to March 2017 were collected.Mata analysis of the results was performed on RevMan 5.3 software.Results Three studies involving 182 patients met the inclusion criteria,including 95 patients in treatment group (acupoint catgut-embedding combined with Diane-35) and 87 patients in control group (Diane-35 alone).There was no statistically significant difference in reducing serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) [WMD =-0.19,95％ CI=(-1.77,1.38)] and luteinizing hormone (LH) [WMD =-1.42,95％ CI=(-5.11,2.27)] between treatment group and control group (P＞0.05).But there were statistically significant differences in reducing serum levels of testosterone (T) [WMD =-0.49,95％CI=(-0.83,-0.16)] and estradiol [WMD =-13.08,95％ CI =(-21.01,-5.16)],recovery of normal menstruation [OR =2.78,95％ CI=(1.23,6.31)],increasing ovulation [OR =3.17,95％ CI =(1.46,6.87)] between treatment group and control group (P＜ 0.05),the above-mentioned indexes in treatment group were surperior to control group.Conclusion Compared with single use of Diane35,acupoint catgut-embedding combined with Diane-35 can effectively reduce serum levels of T and estradiol,promote recovery of normal menstruation,and increase ovulation.
