Investigation of distribution of pathogenic bacteria isolated from hands of health care workers and mobile communication tools

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To explore the distribution of pathogenic bacteria isolated from hands of health care work‐ers and mobile communication tools so as to provide guidance for prevention and control of nosocomial infections . METHODS By means of stratified random sampling ,totally 50 health care workers and 50 mobile communication tools were enrolled in the study ,then the health care workers′hands and mobile communication tools were sam‐pled for bacterial culture ,and the result was observed .RESULTS The pathogenic bacteria or opportunistic patho‐gens were detected in 38 of 50 health care workers ,with the bacteria‐carrying rate 86 .00% .A total of 50 strains of bacteria were isolated ,including 35 (70 .00% ) strains of gram‐positive bacteria and 15 (30 .00% ) strains of gram‐negative bacteria .Of the 38 health care workers whose hands carried with bacteria ,34 were detected with one spe‐cies of pathogen ,accounting for 89 .47% ,3 were detected with two species of pathogens ,accounting for 7 .89% , and 1 was detected with three species of pathogens ,accounting for 2 .63% .Of the 43 mobile communication tools that carried with bacteria ,38 were detected with one species of pathogen ,accounting for 88 .37% ,3 were detected with two species of pathogens ,accounting for 6 .89% ,and 2 were detected with three species of pathogens ,ac‐counting for 4 .65% .There was no significant difference in the bacteria‐carrying rate of hands among the health care workers with different genders ,positions ,or in different departments ;the bacteria‐carrying rate of hands of the health care workers aged less than 40 years old was 100 .00% ,higher than 65 .71% of the health care workers aged between 41 and 60 years old ,and there was significant difference (P<0 .05) .CONCLUSION The distribution of pathogenic bacteria is the same in the hands of the health care workers as in the mobile communication tools , the bacteria‐carrying rate of the young health care workers is relatively high .It is necessary to ban using mobile communication tools during the work so as to reduce the incidence of cross infections .
