Abstract:Objective To investigate the amount of knowledge, attitude and behavior related to hepatitis B among undergraduates at a military medical university. Methods A cross-sectional survey was carried out among the first-year and forth-year students using self-designed questionnaires. Results The percentage of students who gave correct answers to the question about the three transmission routes of hepatitis B was 30.26% (328/1084).The percentage of forth-year students who knew clearly the three main transmission routes of HBV was 59.60%,which was significantly higher than that of first-year students (9.60%) (x2 =311.48,P<0.01).The awareness rate of knowledge related to HBV was significantly different between first-year students and forth-year students(P<0.05).Attitudes to the question of whether you mind having dinner with an HBV infected patient or whether HBV infected individuals can get married or have their own child were significantly different between students of different years (P<0.05).Conclusion The amount of knowledge, attitude and behavior related to hepatitis B are different between students of different years. Therefore,HBV related healthcare education should be tailored to students in different grades.
