Abstract:Objective To understand the knowledge, attitude toward TB and TB related health care seeking behaviour among rural residents in poverty areas of Inner Mongolia. Methods Focus group discussions were applied in three poverty counties which included 20 groups and 105 interviewees. Results In areas of high TB prevalence, farmers are generally lack of knowledge. Some think TB was not a communicable disease, instead,it was inherited and curable. Two main consequences of suffering TB are: worse off of household financial status, and possible unhealthy offspring. These believes restricted TB suspects to visit a doctor on time.In addition, the TB control program itself and TB dispensary has constructive problems which limited the access of TB health care. Conclusions Government should invest straightforward to local public health.Health promotion is necessary to reduce public fear and social stigma toward TB.TB control program itself should be changed to adopting needs of the population.
