Survey on the hand hygiene knowledge status of the medical personnel in large and medium scale hospitals in Tianjin

Abstract:Objective To understand the hand hygiene knowledge management of medical personnel in secondary and ter-tiary hospitals in Tianjin, so as to find out the weak link and put forward the improvement measures. Methods The ques-tionnaire survey method was used for medical personnel sampled from secondary and tertiary hospitals in Tianjin to investi-gate hand hygiene knowledge and compliance. Results The correct rates of the knowledge on hand hygiene indications and protective gloves using of medical personnel in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Tianjin were above 90. 0%; the correct rates of the knowledge on hand disinfectant were between 60. 4% ~93. 4%. The hand drying measures of most medical per-sonnel in hospitals in Tianjin after hand washing were dry naturally, with sterile towel or paper towel, accounted for 83. 6%;14% of the medical personnel used their own towels or public towels to clean hands, and a few medical staff wiped hands on the work clothes. The master of hand hygiene knowledge of medical personnel was related to the working position and working age. Conclusion The hand hygiene knowledge of medical staff should be improved by increasing the intensity of supervision, supervising the implementation of laws and regulations, improving the hand hygiene facilities and the hand hygiene implementation rate.
