Abstract:The rapidly increasing medical data generated from hospital information system (HIS) signifies the era of Big Data in the healthcare domain. These data hold great value to the workflow management, patient care and treatment, scientific research, and education in the healthcare industry. However, the complex, distributed, and highly interdisciplinary nature of medical data has underscored the limitations of traditional data analysis capabilities of data accessing, storage, processing, analyzing, distributing, and sharing. New and efficient technologies are becoming necessary to obtain the wealth of information and knowledge underlying medical Big Data. This chapter discusses medical Big Data analysis in HIS, including an introduction to the fundamental concepts, related platforms and technologies of medical Big Data processing, and advanced Big Data processing technologies.

Abstract:Although data mining and knowledge discovery techniques have been used to clinical medicine frequently, little research has been conducted on hospital decision-making. Decision-making is a crucial part of hospital management, and it goes the whole process of medical behavior. Medical data in hospital information system is always complicated and especial, and this consequently aggravates burden on data analysis. In this paper, we explore how data mining and knowledge discovery can be applied to hospital management, and propose a modified data mining method that is appropriate for mass data in Hospital Information System. We first build a model based on inpatient fees theme, and then analyze it in three aspects: medical insurance fee, department annual fee and fee compositions. The knowledge discovery and analysis is based on Intersystem BI tool DeepSee.

Abstract:With the increasing size of the medical data, the traditional processing methods and tools could not meet the requirements. So, resolving the challenges that the big medical data faces, is critical to realizing the promise of the big data [1]. Aiming at the problems in the big data integration process, this paper proposes the clinical data integration and management system based on Hadoop platform. As a result, the system can connect with multiple heterogeneous data source, such as EMR, PACS, LIS and so on. And then, on the basis of the data sharing, it can retrieve the patient's medical records and manage the different information.

Abstract:Background Existing hospital information systems with simple statistical functions cannot meet current management needs. It is well known that hospital resources are distributed with private property rights among hospitals, such as in the case of the regional coordination of medical services. In this study, to integrate and make full use of medical data effectively, we propose a data warehouse modeling method for the hospital information system. The method can also be employed for a distributed-hospital medical service system.Methods To ensure that hospital information supports the diverse needs of health care, the framework of the hospital information system has three layers: datacenter layer, system-function layer, and user-interface layer. This paper discusses the role of a data warehouse management system in handling hospital information from the establishment of the data theme to the design of a data model to the establishment of a data warehouse. Online analytical processing tools assist user-friendly multidimensional analysis from a number of different angles to extract the required data and information.Results Use of the data warehouse improves online analytical processing and mitigates deficiencies in the decision support system. The hospital information system based on a data warehouse effectively employs statistical analysis and data mining technology to handle massive quantities of historical data, and summarizes from clinical and hospital information for decision making.Conclusions This paper proposes the use of a data warehouse for a hospital information system, specifically a data warehouse for the theme of hospital information to determine latitude, modeling and so on. The processing of patient information is given as an example that demonstrates the usefulness of this method in the case of hospital information management. Data warehouse technology is an evolving technology, and more and more decision support information extracted by data mining and with decision-making technology is required for further research. Abstract:Health management systems (HMS) have turned health management center into a network with huge storage so that health records, from different kinds of systems in hospital, can be shared. Based on this, variety of information about patients from different function modules can be inquired for further research. However, there is a lot of potential information which may be useful but still remain in original data level. In this paper, we focus on how to integrate heterogeneous data, optimize data features, and make further data analysis on HMS, which can be a significant reference for doctors to give proper advices towards different patients. As an assisted diagnostic method, the relationships about some unknown abnormal items with special diseases can be discovered by analyzing the data based on HMS.

Abstract:This paper considers the actual needs of the hospital for data storage and the characteristics of the Hadoop framework, builds a clinical data center using Hadoop, Hive and so on which are widely used in modern society. This new clinical data center overcomes the shortcomings of traditional Unix servers, meets the hospital demand for data storage and provides Cloud Computing platform. First, this paper describes the current trends of hospital clinical data center. Then the paper describes the design of clinical data center with EMR and PACS and realizes the storage of structured data and unstructured data.

Abstract:Objective Based on the existing Junwei No.1 HIS system which has been widely applied in most military hospi-tals, a performance management evaluation system was thus developed, and data excavation and analysis were made accordingly. Methods The system adopted the BS+CS frame structure, the data layer was based on the platform of Oracle database, and the ap-plied service layer and the client program were developed with Visual Studio 2008.Results 《The Performance Management and Ap-praisal System for Military Hospitals》had certain capacity of data excavation and analysis, flexible generation of report forms and could provide data support for perfect decision-making.Conclusion 《The Performance Management and Appraisal System for Military Hospi-tals》 fully confirmed to the design requirements, could effectively improve the working efficiency and quality of performance appraisal, and could on the whole satisfy the demands of large hospitals.

Abstract:The health information systems of most medical institutions in China are isolated. Communications across these systems are generally realized through point-to-point interfaces at the database level, which tend to lack interoperability, extensibility, and security. In the resent study, we developed localized, document-oriented and data-focused clinical document architecture (CDA) templates based on health level 7 (HL7) CDA. Then, by combining these templates with the Service-oriented architecture for HL7 middleware, we accomplished interoperability across multiple heterogeneous systems. Modules of our system have been put into trial use in six medical institutions, including the Second University Hospital (main campus and regional campuses) of the School of Medicine, Zhejiang University and other collaborating hospitals.

Abstract:Objective: To discuss the feasibility and necessity of using HIS data integration to build large data warehouse system which is extensively used on re-evaluation of post-marketing traditional Chinese medicine, and to provide the thought and method of the overall design for it. Method: With domestic and overseas' analysis and comparison on clinical experiments' design based on real world using electronic information system, and with characteristics of HIS in China, a general framework was designed and discussed which refers to design thought, design characteristics, existing problems and solutions and so on. Result: A design scheme of HIS data warehouse on re-evaluation of post-marketing traditional Chinese medicine was presented. Conclusion: The design scheme was proved to be high coherence and low coupling, safe, Universal, efficient and easy to maintain, which can effectively solve the problems many hospitals have faced during the process of HIS data integration.

Abstract:The huge increases in medical devices and clinical applications which generate enormous data have raised a big issue in managing, processing, and mining this massive amount of data. Indeed, traditional data warehousing frameworks can not be effective when managing the volume, variety, and velocity of current medical applications. As a result, several data warehouses face many issues over medical data and many challenges need to be addressed. New solutions have emerged and Hadoop is one of the best examples, it can be used to process these streams of medical data. However, without an efficient system design and architecture, these performances will not be significant and valuable for medical managers. In this paper, we provide a short review of the literature about research issues of traditional data warehouses and we present some important Hadoop-based data warehouses. In addition, a Hadoop-based architecture and a conceptual data model for designing medical Big Data warehouse are given. In our case study, we provide implementation detail of big data warehouse based on the proposed architecture and data model in the Apache Hadoop platform to ensure an optimal allocation of health resources.

Abstract:Objective: To find out an advanced method on medicine management and pharmaceutical information management in hospital, so as to strengthen the pharmaceutical management and information application.Methods: Use computer network techniques, statistical methods and the Data Warehouse techniques. Results: Set up a multidimensional model of pharmaceutical information the Data Warehouse. Illustrate pharmaceutical information with BrioQuery software, make medicine check up, inquiry, statistics, analysis and data development online. Construct pharmaceutical information application framework, including: pharmaceutical management information, medicine application and components analysis and DDDs, and the information of pharmaceutical expenditure, rational medicine usage, pharmaceutical economy and pharmaceutical prediction analysis etc.Conclusion: Pharmaceutical information warehouse is an effective method in pharmaceutical management and pharmaceutical information application in hospital.

Abstract:The Shanghai medical insurance infrastructure is almost completed which is now covering all business sectors and has accumulated rich historical data.However due to the insufficient planning of database design in the past,the data resources are not fully utilised.Therefore it is incapable of providing efficient decision making support.Since the core of decision making support is the data warehouse,we have built a medical insurance fund risk prevention and control data warehouse which is integrated with meta-data management and ETL technology to realise the effective integration of heterogeneous medical insurance data sources to provide a fine database platform for medical insurance fund risk management.The system is performing well after being applied to Shanghai medical insurance fund risk management.

Abstract:This paper describes the technology of data warehouse in healthcare decision-making and tools for support of these technologies, which is used to cancer diseases. The healthcare executive managers and doctors needs information about and insight into the existing health data, so as to make decision more efficiently without interrupting the daily work of an On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) system. This is a complex problem during the healthcare decision-making process. To solve this problem, the building a healthcare data warehouse seems to be efficient. First in this paper we explain the concepts of the data warehouse, On-Line Analysis Processing (OLAP). Changing the data in the data warehouse into a multidimensional data cube is then shown. Finally, an application example is given to illustrate the use of the healthcare data warehouse specific to cancer diseases developed in this study. The executive managers and doctors can view data from more than one perspective with reduced query time, thus making decisions faster and more comprehensive.
