Studies on stilbene derivatives from Dracaena cochinchi nensis and their antifungal activities

Abstract:Object To study the chemical consti tuents of Dracaenacochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen. and t hei r anti-fungal activities. Methods The constituents were isola t ed on silica gel chromatography and preparative TLC. They were identified on th e basis of physical and chemical properties and spectral data (UV, IR, MS, 1HNMR and 13CNMR). Results Two stilbene derivatives were isolated and identified from the ethyl acetate extract of the resiniferous woody portion of D. cochinchinensis. as 4′-hydroxy-3, 5-di m ethoxystilbene (Ⅰ) and resveratrol (Ⅱ). Conclusion Compounds Ⅰ and Ⅱ showed anti-fungal activities. This is the first time to report that stilbene derivatives from this plant had antifungal activities.
