Perspectives on the TCM Zheng Research Using Genome-Wide Association Study Approach

Abstract:The scientific nature of TCM Zheng is a key for understanding the hallmarks and advantages of TCM in treatment based on Zheng differentiation and personalized medicine.It is also a fundamental theme of TCM research but remains largely unclear.Here by introducing the concept of complex trait genetics,the authors propose to use related methods,particularly the approach of cutting-edge genome-wide association study (GWAS) to dissect the molecular genetics of the individual differences in TCM Zheng.Moreover,the authors discuss the practicability and necessity to study the molecular and systematic networks underlying Zheng,by taking advantage of genetic reference mouse population resources,and point out the plausible advancement to TCM research and clinic by applying GWAS to validated models of disease-Zheng in the informative mouse population.
