Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of interleuk in-6 on the modulation of thyroid gland.Methods:Thyroid t issues obtained from patients with Graves' disease(GD) were digested with collag enase and trypsin and incubated with or without IL-6 in the presence or absence of TSH.The growth of thyroid cells was measured with cell titer 96TM nonr adioactive proliferation assay.cAMP and thyroglobulin(Tg) in the supernatant were detected by radioimmunoassay. Results:IL-6 in the concentration of 10-3～103 U/ml did not affect the growth o f thyroid cells, although it significantly inhibited basal and TSH-induced Tg an d cAMP production from cultured thyrocytes in a dose-dependent manner.Conclusion:IL-6 plays an important role in the regulation of thyroid differentiation functions.
