Abstract:This paper reviewed and summarized the concept of nursing safety culture,its influence factors,assessment tools and research directions,and put forward deficiencies of those researches about nursing safety,in order to provide reference for researches aboutnursing safety culture in China.

Abstract:Objective To analyze the research hotspot of critical care nursing abroad in recent 5 years,in order to provide reference for critical care nursing research in China. Methods PubMed database was searched for articles related to critical care nursing from 2017 to 2022. Bicomb software was used for word frequency analysis,and gCLUTO software was used for cluster analysis. Results A total of 1 263 articles related to critical care nursing were included,the number of publications reached the highest level from 2018 to 2020,and showed a downward trend in the past two years. Forty-four high-frequency keywords were extracted,and the cumulative percentage of occurrence frequency was 55.50%. Four research hotspots of critical care were summarized by cluster analysis,which were humanistic care of critical care nursing,working environment of critical care,clinical nursing practice of critical care and nursing of special critical diseases. Conclusion In recent years,the research objects and contents extended and deepened. The research objects included ICU nurses,patients and their families. The research contents involved humanistic care,clinical practice and working environment,focused on clinical difficulties such as surrogate decision-making,auxiliary communication and hospice care of ICU patients. In the future,we still need to summarize the hotspots of critical care nursing research in order to provide ideas for further exploring the depth and breadth of critical care nursing research.

Abstract:Objective Investigate the current situation of emergency nurses' perception of hospital safety climate in tertiary hospitals. Methods A total of 866 emergency nurses from 114 hospitals in 29 provinces,municipalities and autonomous re.gions were randomly selected,and the self-designed general information questionnaire and Chinese version of the hospital safety climate scale were used to investigate. Results The overall hospital safety climatel was(3.97+0.61). Univariate analysis of variance showed that there were statistically significant differences in the hospital safe.ty climate of emergency nurses with educational background and employment form (P<0.05). ConclusionThe e-mergency nurses have a better sense of the overall hospital safety climate,but the obstruction of' the safety work and the cleanliness and neatness of the. working: environment need to be improved. Therefore,il is suggested Lhal the construction of hospital safety climate should be further strengthened in the rational allocation of human re-sources and emergency working environment.
Research-training Needs of Clinical Nurses: A Nationwide Study among Tertiary Hospitals in China.

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to evaluate Chinese tertiary hospital nurses' research output, research ability, and their related training needs regarding scientific research methodology and analyze the relations among them. Methods: A nationwide survey was conducted in China on a large sample of tertiary hospital nurses (n = 27,335) recruited from 22 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. A validated, self-designed questionnaire, consisted of a common questionnaire, the Science Research Skills Self-Rating Questionnaire (SRSQ) and the Scientific Research Training Needs Questionnaire (SRTNQ) were used to assess nurses' research output, self-rated research skills and research-training needs. Results: The nurses' scientific research participation rates (with 4.13%, 7.85%, 5.35%, and 2.04% in research projects, research attendance, papers published, and patent, respectively) and their self-rated research skills 25.00 (12.50, 37.50) were very low. However, the research training needs were relatively high 53.12(37.50, 75.00). Significant differences in research participation rates (research projects, research attendance, papers published, and patent), scientific research skills, and research-training needs were determined by age, highest education level, nursing experience, employment, technical title, administrative post, and clinical tutoring experience (P < 0.05). Female and male nurses had different research participation rates (only research projects and studies published) and scientific research skills (P < 0.05). Positive correlations were observed among research output, scientific research skills, and research-training needs (P < 0.01). Conclusions: Nurses' scientific research participation and self-rated research ability were below the optimal despite that they had relatively high research-training needs. Abstract:Objective To explore the nurses and patients' evaluation for influence factors of nursing safety.Method 399 nurses and 503 patients were investigated by self designed questionnaires which include six dimensionalities of nurses' quality and general ability,internal environment of nursing work,clinical workplace,organization management,patients and care givers.The six dimensionalities are consisted of 43 items.Result The average scores of 41 items(95.35%) evaluated by nurses and patients were above 4.0 with standard deviation below 1.0.There is significant difference between the nurses and patients in evaluation of 11 items(P<0.05),of which 6 items in the dimensionality of nurses' quality and general ability were given higher score by patients while 5 items in the dimensionalities of internal environment of nursing work(3 items),clinical workplace(1 item),organization management(1 item) were given higher scores by nurses.Conclusion It is the future direction for the nursing safety management to cultivate nurses' quality,improve the patients' cognition on safety process management and get their cooperation.

Abstract:Objective To investigate nurses' scientific research competency and training demand in Chinese tertiary hospital.Methods It was a multi-stage large-scale survey.A total of 27 335 nurses from 22 provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities were recruited to complete the self-designed questionnaire,including demographic data(7 items),scientific research competency(objective index of 4 items,and subjective index of 6 subscales with 40 items),and training demand evaluation(6 subscales with 16 items).Results There were 1 130(4.14％) nurses who had managed or were managing the research projects as principal investigators(PIs),2 147(7.85％)nurses who had attended or were attending research programs,1 463(5.35％) nurses had published papers,and 557(2.04％) nurses obtained patents.The self-evaluated competency score was 25.00 (12.50,37.50)(rangedfrom 0 to 100)and training demand score was 53.13(37.50,75.00)(ranged from 0 to 100).Conclusion The nurses' scientific research competency should be improved and they had strong training demands.In order to improve nurses' research competency and quality,nursing administrators should pay more attention to post-graduate training focusing on research competency.

Abstract:Objective To explore strategies for promotion of medication safety in mainland China,and to identify the existing problems by analyzing nursing research targeted on medication safety.Methods Totally,624 research papers published from 1998 to 2010 and in Chinese were retrieved from CNKI and CBM databases,and were analyzed by quantitative analysis.Results Published papers concerning medication safety were increased year by year.Of all the papers,60.1% focused on experiences related to medication safety,and 77.2% did not employed statistic analysis.The main contents included process management of medication safety(23.1%),and analysis of medication error(21.3%) and so on.Conclusion Studies focused on medication safety in clinical nursing.However,these studies are mainly qualitative comments and summaries of experience,which lack strict design and sufficient use of statistical methods.It is strongly recommended that the studies concerning medication safety,promotion strategies,and medication safety in community treatment should be strengthened,so as to construct appropriate guideline for medication safety in clinical nursing in China.
A Survey on Nurses' Attitude Toward Patient Safety Culture in a Children's Hospital

Abstract:Objective:To understand nurses' attitude toward patient safety culture. Methods:With convenience sampling, a total of 283 nurses were surveyed using hospital patient safety culture questionnaire in a children's hospital in Shanghai. Results:63.6% nurses gave their work unit a patient safety grade of 'excellent' (17.1%) or 'very good' (46.4%). The three dimensions with the best scores were teamwork within units (93.4%), organizational learning and continuous improvement (91.9%) and feedback and communication about error (80.0%). The three dimensions with the least scores were non-punitive reaction about error (29.0%), inter-department collaboration (51.7%), and the overall feeling of the patient safety (53.1%).Age, length of work and work units influenced nurses' recognition and attitude toward patient safety culture. Conclusion:The children's hospital has a positive safety culture, but improvements are still needed in some areas.
Patient Safety Research in China: A Literature Review

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: A number of articles on patient safety have been published in Chinese-language journals in last decade. However, until now there have been no studies of their overall quality or contribution to current thinking. This study explored the themes and designs of studies on patient safety published in Chinese-language journals.METHOD: We searched the major Chinese databases, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM) and Chinese Journals Full-text Database (CNKI), for Chinese-language patient safety research papers published between January 2001 and December 2010. We analyzed the articles' publication years, research themes, author affiliations, and research methodologies. Quality and statistical methods were only appraised based on study design type.RESULTS: In the decade studied, a total of 6,336 articles were included. 2008 saw the greatest number of patient safety articles published in China (865). There were 11 journals which each published at least 55 relevant articles over 10 years. The most popular topic of patient safety studies was nosocomial infection (5,182/81.79%). Non-comparative studies accounted for the majority of the literature (4,390/ 69.3%); of these, most were case series (4,080/92.94%). Comparative studies accounted for only 2.6% of the studies found (167). Most of the first authors of included articles worked at hospitals (5,193), many in nursing departments (2,044).CONCLUSIONS: There was no change trend in the number of articles on patient safety research published in Chinese in the past 10 years. Most articles described non-comparative studies, which lack rigorous designs. More methodologically rigorous designs are needed to improve the overall quality of patient safety research in China.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate status quo of clinical nursings’ attitude to safety culture of hospital pa‐tients ,to provide the reference for targeted safety education for clinical nursing .Methods:A total of 1 953 nurses (working time >3 months) who had practice certificates in 5 general hospitals of Nantong received the survey by using the patient safety culture assessment questionnaire w hich w as constructed by Chen Fanglei ect .Re‐sults:The clinical nurses’ attitude to the patients safety culture was overall positive .There were statistically sig‐nificant differences in the scores of attitude to patient safety culture between different ages ,the level of the hos‐pital ,the title ,the time of nursing work of nurses and whether they has received a safety culture training or not (P<0 .05) .Conclusion:Hospitals should strengthen the safety culture education of low seniority nurses ,Second grade hospital needs to further improve their working conditions and take corresponding measures to improve nurses’ cognition level of patient safety culture ,to ensure the safety of patients .

Abstract:Objective To investigate the condition on safety attitude of medical staffs in general surgery department.Method Investigate 99 medical staffs in general surgery department by safety attitude scale in Chinese version.Figure out the ratio of safety attitude in general surgery department.Analyze safety attitude for staff with different occupation.Take Person correlation analysis between medical staffs' sociological variables and all dimensions of safety attitude.Result Ratio of safety attitude in general surgery department is 42.4%.Nurses have better safety attitude than doctors.There is significant difference on team cooperation and safety atmosphere between nurses and doctors.There is negative correlation between safety attitude and education background,occupation,title.Conclusion Safety attitude of medical staffs in general surgery department is worrying.Corresponding measures should be taken to improve safety culture of department,reduce medical risks and ensure patients' safety.

Abstract:Objective To analyze current nursing workplace.Methods Questionnaires were distributed to 565 nurses,the response rate was 73.8%,417 nurses completed the Q12 scale which consists of four dimensions:basic needs,teamwork,self-development and supervisor's support.Data collected were analyzed by SPSS.Results Highest scores were reported for basic needs and lowest for supervisor's support.Significant correlation between marital status and teamwork was found while moderate correlation between ages and basic needs,ages and teamwork.The four dimensions had non-significant correlation with ducation level,job title and nursing unit.Conclusion On the base of meeting the nurses' basic needs,further improve the nursing administration,pay attention to the nurses' individual differences,optimize the nurses' occupational environment.

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to survey patient safety culture in a county hospital and to provide evidence for strategies to improve patient safety culture. Methods: Nine hundred and thirty-two medical staff in a county hospital were surveyed with use of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture. Information was analyzed by one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Nine hundred and thirty-two questionnaires were distributed, of which 661 of those returned were valid. The subscale-level results showed that the positive response rate for "teamwork across units" was higher than 75.0%, indicating it was an area of strength. Five areas - "nonpunitive response to error," "staffing," "communication openness," "overall perceptions of patient safety," and "frequency of event reporting" - had potential for improvement, with a positive responsive rate lower than 50%. Twenty-nine percent of respondents gave their work area a patient safety grade of "excellent" or "very good." Further, 60.1% of respondents had reported no event in the previous 12 months. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that position and number of years working in this hospital were the factors influencing patient safety culture. Conclusion: Patient safety culture in the county hospital has potential for improvement, especially in the areas of "nonpunitive response to error," "staffing," "overall perceptions of patient safety," "communication openness," and "frequency of event reporting." Statement of Significance: It has been recognized for almost 20 years that safety culture is important in ensuring high-quality and safe care. This article describes the results of a patient safety culture survey undertaken in one Chinese county hospital, which distributed the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture to 932 health care staff. It reaffirms that there is still a long way to go until hospitals have successfully established positive safety cultures. In terms of relevance, we believe the findings will be most useful to the hospital where the study was undertaken. Many of the recommendations in the discussion should be useful for the hospital.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the status,direction,hot spots and achievements of nursing management research by analyzing the papers published from 2005 to 2010 in Shanghai.Methods: Bibliometrics were adopted in the study to analyze 421 papers published in peer reviewed nursing journals from Jan 2005 to Nov 2010 written by nurse managers in Shanghai.Results: The main authors involved in nursing management research were 41 to 51 years old who had undergraduate course education background and the intermediate professional title.The quantity of nursing management papers maintained in a stable level.The research focused on human resources management(40.61%),while most of them were reviews(62%).Most research sites were tertiary general hospitals.They had obvious regional characteristics.Cooperation between researchers increased in recent years,but multi-central cooperation(10.93%),research fund(8.55%) and the study in the clinical ward needed to be strengthened.Conclusion We should focus on the key points and develop nursing management research,and then promote the scientific development of nursing management in the new period.

Abstract:Objective To provide effective suggestions for patient safety management by analyzing the factors,which affect patient safety from hospital and department aspects.Methods The study obtained the data by questionnaire survey and based on descriptive analysis,univariate analysis and multivariate analysis.Results The overall level of patient safety culture is good.The level of teamwork,study and continuous improvement,the communication and feedback of errors in departments gain high recognition.Age and the degree of familiarity of patient safety culture are the main factors that affect patient safety culture.Conclusion The hospital should establish an efficient management model,in which patient participation,doctor-patient trust,systematical control and investigation are featured in,based on the present situation and safety demands of the hospital so as to promote the development of the hospital and the staff's sense of safety.

Abstract:This paper reviews the literature on safety culture, placing particular focus on research undertaken from 1998 onwards. The term culture is clarified as it is typically applied to organizations, to safety, and particularly to construction safety. Some clarification in terms of positive safety culture, safety culture models, levels of aggregation and safety performance is provided by presenting appropriate empirical evidence and its theoretical developments. In general, safety culture is thought to influence employees’ attitudes and behavior in relation to an organization’s ongoing health and safety performance. Implications for future research in the area are addressed, as in recent years safety culture has become the focus of much attention in all industries, including the construction industry.

Abstract:Objective:To know about the development status and existed problems in nursing science and re-search in China in recent 3 years.Methods:The papers published in Chinese Journal of Nursing,Nursing Re-search,Chinese Practical Nursing Journal,Journalof Nurses Training,Journalof Nursing Science were in-vestigated and analyzed,then to analyze the total amount of papers in each column,the number of research pa-pers,research funding sources,unit commitment,regional distribution,number of authors,cooperation,the situ-ation of application of statistics were by applying the literature metrology.Results:The total number of papers in 5 kinds journals were 19 209 from 2010 to 2012,and showed a trend of increase year by year;topics of top five were the specialized nursing(35.52%),nursing management(9.37%),nursing education(6.20%),investigation study(6.13%)and lessons learned(4.22%).The number of research topic essay were 3958,and the trend was increasing year by year;research papers were distributed in the military systems and the 32 provinces,autono-mous regions,municipalities directly under the central government,the top 5 were respectively in Guangdong province,Jiangsu province,Shanghai city,the Guangxi Zhuang Nationality autonomous region and Hubei prov-ince.Project supported source were respectively the provincial level(40.27%),municipal level(29.46%),college level(18.47%),the National level (5.86%)and Army level(1.29%);scientific research topics which were com-pleted by one person accounted for 6.37%,that by 2 and above accounted for 93.63%,and most were the coop-eration in the same unit (64.20%).Conclusion:In 5 journals,total quantity of papers and the number of research topics are increasing year by year;the amount of nursing papers ranked first;the most proj ects funding source was from provincial level;regional distribution of subj ect authors were most in Guangdong province;coopera-tive study,cooperative finance subj ect gradually increased.
Study on Cognitive Level of Patient Safety Culture and Influencing Factors in a Tertiary Hospital in Beijing

Abstract:Objective To comprehend patient safety culture status of nursing staff in a class "AAA"hospital in Beijing and to explore factors influencing the culture. Methods 1 337 nurses in this class "AAA"hospital in Beijing were selected by convenience sampling, and were surveyed with a questionnaire of hospital survey on patient safety culture (HSOPSC, Chinese version).Results The average score of nurses′ awareness on patient safety culture was (3.79±0.37) points. Comparison of nurses′scores on hospital patient safety culture showed statistic difference due to their working years, departments, and genders (t=1.793,6.230,0.706;P<0. 05).Conclusions Patient safety culture awareness among nurses in class "AAA" hospital was above the medium level, with the overall performance satisfactory, yet some dimensions to be improved.

Abstract:The ubiquitous healthcare risk and hidden risk factors in healthcare provision is a common problem the global healthcare industry faced.It is considered to complete patient entered safety culture awareness and system and avoid healthcare damage,secure patient safety by follow up tracing adverse events.It also shows that strengthening patient safety system needs promoting hospital management awareness,building hospital safety culture,establishing adverse events report system and feedback mechanism,shaping high risk factor early warning and intervention,encouraging patient participation to improve patient hospital relationship and harmonious development.
