The Impact of Caregivers' Anxiety and Family Care on Hospitalization of Children with Acute Onset of Asthma within Six Months

Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of caregivers' anxiety and family care on hospitalization of children with acute onset of asthma within six months ,and to provide evidence for clinical practice .Methods By convenience sampling method ,we recruited 301 asthma children and their caregivers in two children' s hospitals from August 2015 to April 2016 in Shanghai .General information questionnaire ,self-rating anx-iety scale and family management measures were used in this study .Univariate analysis and logistic regres-sion analysis were used to analyze the data .Results Among 301 children ,210(69 .8% ) of them had acute asthma attack and 36(12 .0% ) administered to hospitals in six months .The result of logistic regression a-nalysis indicated that caregivers' anxiety and condition management effort were the risk factors ,the dura-tion of disease was the protective factor of asthma attack ,and condition management ability was the protec-tive factor of the hospital readmission .Conclusion Caregivers' anxiety and family care have impact on asthma attack and hospital admission of children .It is essential for clinicians to provide effective guidance and promote emotional adjustment at the preliminary stage of asthma .Thus ,the family can form an effec-tive care patterns and reduce the risk of asthma attack and hospital admission .
