Research of the Availability of Evidence Summary: Breastfeeding for Hospitalized Infants: Best Practice

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the safety,efficacy,feasibility and social ethics of the Evidence Summary:Breastfeeding for Hospitalized Infants:Best Practice,in order to select evidence for the localized evidence-based research.Methods A self-designed survey was piloted and then randomly distributed to selected medical staff working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).Respondents were required to evaluate the evidence summary from the safety,efficacy,feasibility and the social ethical four dimensions respectively.The hospital managers,department managers,doctors and nurses were invited to attend a conference of FAME to determine the evidence items of evidence-based practice.Results There were 78 items agreed by 80%respondents in respect of safety,efficacy and feasibility.There were 79 items agreed by 80% respondents in respect of social ethics.After discussion of conference of FAME,we found that 76 items of evidence were feasible,and seven items of evidence were infeasible.Conclusions The evidence summary in aspects of safety,efficacy,feasibility and social ethical has high scores and good applicability.The next evidence-based practice project will apply 76 items of evidence of the evidence summary.
