Evaluation of Treated Brain Tumors with Multivoxel Proton MR Spectroscopy

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the clinical application of multi-voxel proton MR spectroscopy in patients with treated brain tumors.Methods:Twenty-one patients with treated brain tumors underwent multi-voxel proton MR spectroscopy.Results:Five patients had elevation of Cho on proton MRS, in which four patients had pathologically-proved recurrent tumors and one had gliosis. Tumor inhibited by radiation had decreased Cho, NAA and Cr on proton MRS.Tumor radiation necrosis showed high Lac-Lip peak on proton MRS.Conclusion:The multi-voxel proton MR spectroscopy was a valuable methods in evaluation of treated tumors and could detect the recurrent brain tumors after operation and pathologic changes of the tumors after radiotherapy.
