Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between neuroendocrine axis and the clinical manifestations of patients with panic disorder .Methods Ninety patients with panic disorder were evaluated with the panic disorder baseline severity scale (PDSS) and Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA) as well as measurements of hormones in hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA) and hy-pothalamic-pituitary-thyroid( HPT) .Results The level of ACTH was positively correlated with both age and HAMA 12 item ( P <0.05).The level of TT4 was negatively correlated with both HAMA 1 item and PDSS4 item(P<0.05).There was a negative correla-tion between the level of TSH and HAMA 7 item( P<0.05 ) .The HAMA12 item and PDSS3 item in the patients with normal HPA axis were significantly lower than that in patients with abnormal HPA axis ( P <0.05 ) .Conclusion The abnormal function of HPA and HPT axis is associated with some clinical symptoms of patients with panic disorder .These findings might provide some evidences for the clinical subgrouping and management individualization of patients with panic disorder .
