Value of Transperineal Real Time Three-dimensional Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Constipation Caused by Female Posterior Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of transperineal real time three-dimensional ultrasound for the diagnosis of constipation caused by female posterior pelvic floor dysfunction,and to discuss the ultrasound appearance of this kind of disease.Methods Transperineal real time three-dimensional ultrasound was performed on 92 constipation patients to observe the position and mobility of anal canal and rectum.The retrovesical angle,rectocele depth and the rectal ampulla to the inferior symphyseal margin in horizontal distance were measured during rest and maximum Valsalva maneuver.Different types of posterior pelvic floor dysfunction disease were diagnosed according to the ultrasound findings.Results Translabial real time three-dimensional ultrasound diagnosed 61 cases of posterior pelvic floor dysfunction disease,including 21 cases rectocele,4 cases enterocele,27 cases perineal hypermobility and 9 cases pelvic floor achalasia syndrome.Conclusions Translabial real time three-dimensional ultrasound could provide useful information of posterior pelvic floor and is of great value in the diagnosis of female constipation caused by posterior pelvic floor dysfunction.
