Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To compare the accuracy of preoperative T staging of gastric cancer by oral and intravenous contrast-enhanced gastric ultrasonography.METHODS:One hundred and forty three patients who had been diagnosed as gastric cancer by endoscopic biopsy and confirmed by pathology after operation were examined by oral and intravenous contrast-enhanced gastric ultrasonography, and they were divided into satisfied group and non-satisfied group according to the 2-D image quality of lesion. The results were compared with postoperative pathologic findings.RESULTS:All the patients with gastric cancer presented regional gastric wall thickening. Among them, 117 cases were clearly presented with good image quality. The remaining 26 cases were presented with vague profile, the ulcerative surface of lesion was filled with hyperechogenicity combined with rear shadow. The accuracy of oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in determining the T stage of gastric cancer was 74.1%. The accuracy in satisfied group and non-satisfied group was 78.6% and 53.8%, respectively. The enhancement pattern of 143 cases was showed as hyperenhancement during the arterial phase and hypoenhancement during the portal phase in DCUS. The accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasongraphy in determining the T stage of gastric cancer was 86.7%, but the accuracy in satisfied group and non-satisfied group was 88.9% and 76.9%, respectively. There was a significant difference between the two methods (χ(2) = 9.031, P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:DCUS is more accurate than oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography as a useful diagnostic method for preoperative T staging of gastric cancer.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the preliminary clinical use of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography using oral and intravenous contrast agents in diagnosis and preoperative staging of gastric cancer.Methods Double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography using oral and intravenous contrast agents was performed in 13 patients with gastric cancer.The diagnosis and preoperative staging evaluated by double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography were compared with postoperative pathologic outcomes.Results The accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for diagnosis of gastric cancer was 100% including one case with early and 12 with advanced gastric carcinoma.The accuracy for tumor invasion depth(T staging) was 76.9%(10/13) including 3 incorrect cases with tumors located in the fundus and greater curvature of the stomach respectively.The accuracy for peri-gastric lymph node metastasis was 66.7%(2/3) and the overall coincidence of peri-gastric lymph node involvement or not was 92.3%(12/13).Conclusions Double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is useful for diagnosis and preoperative staging of gastric cancer.The accuracy for clinical TNM staging is comparatively low for early gastric cancer and tumors located in the greater curvature and fundus of the stomach.
Preoperative T Staging of Advanced Gastric Cancer Using Double Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound.

Abstract:PURPOSE:To determine the accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCEUS), in which intravenous microbubbles are used together with an oral contrast agent, in the preoperative T staging of advanced gastric cancer.MATERIALS AND METHODS:This prospective, ethics committee-approved study recruited 350 patients who gave informed consent. All had gastric cancer proved by endoscopic biopsy and underwent preoperative ultrasound staging using the TNM classification (UICC 2002). The results of DCEUS were compared with postoperative pathologic findings. The staging accuracy of oral contrast-enhanced ultrasound (OCEUS) and DCEUS were compared to each other. Sensitivity and specificity for assessing serosal involvement by DCEUS were evaluated, and the concordance of this method was analyzed using Kappa statistics.RESULTS:The accuracies of OCEUS and DCEUS in determining the T stage of advanced gastric cancer were 75.1 % (70.4 % for T2, 79.5 % for T3, 68.1 % for T4) and 87.4 % (83.3 % for T2, 89.7 % for T3, 87.2 % for T4), respectively, and the difference between the two methods was statistically significant (χ2 = 17.364, p< 0.001). The performance of DCEUS for staging lesions in the cardia (69.81 %), fundus (85.71 %) and body (85.56 %) had lower accuracy than that of other parts (93.94 % for antrum; 92.11 % for pylorus). Sensitivity and specificity for assessing serosal involvement by DCEUS were 98.76 % and 83.33 % respectively. The reliability was almost perfect with Kappa values of 0.89 (p< 0.001) for intra-observer and 0.82 (p< 0.001) for inter-observer agreement.CONCLUSION:DCEUS could be considered as an accurate, non-invasive, and reliable diagnostic method for preoperative staging of advanced gastric cancer.

Abstract:Objective To determine staging accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCUS)after neoadjuvant chemotherapy,and to evaluate effect during neoadjuvant chemotherapy for advanced gastric carcinoma(AGC).Methods A total of 29 patients with AGC diagnosed by endoscopy were examined and staged using ultrasound after taking oral contrast agent and bolus injection of SonoVue (DCUS)pre-and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy.T-stage accuracy of post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy and pathological T status of postoperative were compared.All of the subjects were divided into two groups according to RECIST(Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors):chemotherapy benefit group(22cases,including:complete response 0 cases.partial response 14 cases,stable disease 8 cases)and progressive group(7 cases).The findings of DCUS of AGC tissues were assessed by auto-tracking contrast quantification(ACQ)software.The baseline intensity(BI)and peak intensity(PI)of gastric carcinoma tissues were measured automatically,and the enhanced intensity(EI)of gastric carcinoma tissues was calculated manually(EI =PI-BI).The quantitative analysis findings of DCUS of each patient pre-and postneoadjuvant chemotherapy between two groups were compared adopting repeated measures method.Results The overall accuracy of T staging in AGC patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were 65.52％ by DCUS,and 0,42.86％and 92.86％respectively for T2 stage,T3 stage and T4 stage.The agreement of this method was weak between T-stage accuracy post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy and pathological T status of postoperative.The Kappa value was 0.33.The difference value of PI and EI between pre-and postneoadjuvant chemotherapy in AGC patients for benefit group was more than that in progressive group.The main effect of BI in AGC tissues between pre-and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy was no significant difference between two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusions Restaging by DCUS after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in AGC patients was found to be inaccurate.However,the difference value of PI and EI between pre-and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy in AGC tissues for benefit group was more than that in progressive group.Thus,the value of PI and EI by ICUS may be a useful clinical parameter with which to evaluate the effect during neoadjuvant chemotherapy and guide therapeutic regimen for AGC patients.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in preoperative T-staging of gastric cancer.METHODS:A sulfur hexafluoride-filled microbubble ultrasound contrast agent and a continuous real-time imaging technique of contrast pulse sequencing were used. Normal gastric wall was examined by CEUS in 8 healthy volunteers and the results were compared with the findings on multislice computed tomography. Sixty-two patients with gastric cancer proved by biopsies who received preoperative CEUS examination were involved in this study, and the CEUS result was compared with postoperative pathological findings.RESULTS:The normal gastric wall presented a one-layer structure in the portal venous phase and a three-layer structure in the arterial and equilibrium phase including a slightly hyper-enhanced inner layer, a hypo-enhanced intermediate layer, and a markedly hyper-enhanced outer layer, which corresponded histologically to the mucosal, submucosal, and muscular-serosal layer, respectively. The accuracy of transabdominal ultrasonography and CEUS in determining the T stage of gastric cancer was 72.9% and 88.1% respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (chi(2)=4.37, P=0.036).CONCLUSIONS:CEUS shows the normal gastric wall as a one- or a three-layer structure, which provides a theory base for CEUS in preoperative T-staging of gastric cancer. CEUS is a useful diagnostic method for preoperative T-staging of gastric cancer.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the characteristics of normal gastric wall using oral and intravenous contrast-enhanced ultrasonography-Double Contrast Ultrasonograph(yDCUS). Methods: Four-teen healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. The DCUS findings of normal gastric wall were compared with enchanced multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT). Results: Normal gastric wall presented as three layer structures from inside to outside with DCUS: a slightly enhanced inner layer corresponded histologically to the mucosal layer, an intermediate layer of low enhanced corresponded histologically to the submucosal layer,and a markedly enhanced outer layer corresponded histologically to the muscular-serosal layer. Conclusion: The normal gastric wall presents as three-layered structures using DCUS, which may provide a basic principle of DCUS in diagnosing T-staging of gastric cancer in the future.
Comparison of Double Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography and Endoscopic Ultrasonography in the Preoperative Tstaging of Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(DCUS) and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) in the preoperative T staging of gastric cancer.Methods A total of 136 consecutive patients with histologically confirmed gastric carcinoma were enrolled into this study.DCUS and EUS were performed in all patients to estimate depth of invasionin (T stage) before surgery.All patients underwent surgery.The findings of the histopathologic examination of resected specimens were considered as gold standard and were retrospectively compared with the results of DCUS and EUS.Results The accuracy of DCUS and EUS in determining the T stage of gastric cancer were 80.1％ ( T165.5 ％,T2 79.5％,T386.5％,T487.5％) and 81.60％ ( T182.8％,T276.9％,T382.7％,T487.5％) respectively.There was no significant difference between two methods ( P ＞0.05) except T1 staging.Conclusions There is no significant difference between DCUS and EUS in overall T-staging of gastric cancers,but there is a significant difference between two methods in T1 staging.Either of these two methods has its advantages and disadvantages.If two methods are carried out simultaneously to make up for each other,the accuracy of preoperative T-staging of gastric cancers can be improved and this improvement can influence treatment algorithms.
Evaluation of the Chemotherapy Effect in Advanced Gastric Carcinoma Using Double Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCUS) on evaluation of the chemotherapy effect in advanced gastric carcinoma. Methods A total of 21 patients with unresectable and received chemotherapy of advanced gastric carcinoma were examined using ultrasound after taking oral contrast agent and bolus injection of Sono Vue, and findings of DCUS of each patient before and after chemotherapy were compared. Results The thickness of lesions was slightly thinner than that after chemotherapy,but there was no significant difference ( P ＞0. 05). In addition, there was no significant difference in the basal intensity (BI), peak intensity (PI), arrive time (AT) and time to peak (TTP) of gastric carcinoma tissues after chemotherapy (P ＞0.05). While the enhanced intensity (EI) value of gastric carcinoma tissues after chemotherapy was significantly less than that before chemotherapy (P ＜0.05). Conclusions The EI value in gastric carcinoma tissues may be considered as a sensitive and effective index in assessing the therapeutic effect of the chemotherapy in patients with advanced gastric carcinoma.
Double Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography Evaluation of Preoperative Lauren Classification of Advanced Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract:Introduction The clinical value of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCUS) in determining the Lauren classification of advanced gastric carcinoma needed investigation. Material and methods Fifty-eight patients with gastric cancer proved by endoscopic biopsy underwent preoperative DCUS examination in which an oral contrast agent was combined with an intravenous agent, and the findings were compared with the postoperative pathological findings using haematoxylin-eosin and Alcian Blue-Periodic Acid Schiff (AB-PAS) staining. Results Of 58 patients, 34 (59%) were the intestinal type and 24 (41%) the diffuse type on pathological examination of resected specimens. Among intestinal type patients, 30 (88%) showed homogeneous vascular enhancement and 4 (12%) heterogeneous enhancement with the “sandwich” pattern in 2 patients (50%) and “barrier” pattern in 2 patients (50%). In the diffuse type, 22 of 24 patients (92%) enhanced heterogeneously, with stippled and peripheral enhancement in 9 (41%), the “sandwich” pattern in 8 (36%) and “barrier” pattern in 5 (23%). Two of 24 patients (8%) with the diffuse type enhanced homogeneously. The proportion of heterogeneous enhancement was significantly different between the 2 subtypes of tumour (p = 0.0001). The sensitivity and specificity of heterogeneous enhancement in diagnosing the diffuse type of advanced gastric cancer were 92% and 88%, respectively. Youden’s index was 0.8. Conclusions Double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is a new and useful method to determine Lauren classification in patients with gastric carcinoma.

Abstract:Objective To compare the accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with double contrast enhanced ultrasound ( DCUS) in the preoperative staging of gastric malignancies. Methods This study included 162 patients with biopsy proven gastric cancer who underwent surgical resection as primary management of their malignancies. All patients underwent DCUS and EUS prior to surgical intervention with the results of the ultrasound findings compared with the pathological stages of the resected specimen. Results Among the 162 gastric cancer patients, there were 42 cases of T1, 49 cases of T2, 56 cases of T3, and 15 cases of T4 tumors. The overall accuracy of DCUS and EUS for the determination of loco-regional tumor infiltration ( T Staging) was 77. 2% and 74. 7% , (χ2 = 0. 273, P = 0. 603). Comparison of ultrasound techniques revealed that DCUS was superior to EUS only for a tumor depth of T3 (χ2 =5. 009, P = 0.025). Lymph nodes were correctly staged with DCUS and EUS in 78.4% and 57. 4% of cases, respectively ( χ2 = 16. 370,P =0.001). Using DCUS, the sensitivity of the technique was 78. 4% with a specificity of 78. 5%. In comparison, EUS had a sensitivity of 49. 5% with a specificity of 69. 2%. DCUS also detected a higher incidence of positive lymph nodes than EUS for poorly differentiated (81. 5% vs. 42. 6% ,χ2 =17. 338, P < 0. 01) and overall tumor types (78.4% vs. 49. 5% , χ2 = 17.523, P < 0. 01). Conclusions Double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography offers another noninvasive approach for the preoperative evaluation of gastric cancer. DCUS was comparable to EUS in tumor depth evaluation. DCUS offers an advantage in the detection of lymph node metastases, especially in poorly differentiated tumors.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical value of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCUS)in Borrmann classification of advanced gastric carcinoma preoperatively. Methods A total of 69 patients with advanced gastric carcinoma were examined by ultrasound after taking oral contrast agent and bolus injection of SonoVue preoperatively.A comparison with final pathologic results was made after surgery. Results The accuracy of oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and DCUS in Borrmann classification of advanced gastric cancer were 78.3%and 91.3%,respectively.There was a significant difference between two methods(X2=4.087,P＜0.05).In addition,Kappa value of two methods were 0.73 and 0.90,respectively.Conclusions DCUS is a new valuable method for Borrmann classification with its high accuracy preoperatively.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate clinical value of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(DCUS)in diagnosing gastric stromal tumors(GST). Methods The medical records of 26 patients with a histological diagnosis of GST were retrospectively reviewed. The correlation between DCUS features and pathological findings of the lesions was compared. Results Total 26 cases of GST were divided into low risk group( 16 cases) and high risk group (10 cases). The size,contour,liquefactive necrosis and enhancement distribution of lesions were markedly correlated with the pathobiologic behaviour of the tumor ( P ＜0.05). There was no significant difference in border and metastasis of lesions between two groups( P ＞0.05). It was shown that DCUS supplied statistically significant improvement in the localization diagnosis and detection of liquefactive necrosis versus oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography ( P ＜ 0.05 ). Conclusions DCUS is considered as a valuable tool in diagnosing location as well as pathobiological behaviour of GST. It can provide the guidance and reference comments for treatment algorithms.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCEUS) for assessing the Borrmann classification of advanced gastric carcinoma (AGC) preoperatively. Three hundred twenty nine patients with proved AGC were enrolled. DCEUS (intravenous microbubbles combined with combined with oral contrast-enhanced ultrasound) was performed preoperatively. The diagnostic accuracy of DCEUS in determining Borrmann classification was compared with postoperative pathological findings. The reliability of DCEUS was analyzed. The accuracy of DCEUS in determining the Borrmann classification of AGC was 91.49%. The intra- and inter-observer reproducibility was both almost perfect for assessing the Borrmann classification of AGC by DCEUS. DCEUS could be considered as an accurate, non-invasive and reliable diagnostic method for preoperative Borrmann classification of advanced gastric carcinoma.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of oral and intravenous contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (i.e.double contrast-enhanced ultrasonography,DCUS) as a new method to evaluate the gastric cancer in patients with liver metastasis using DCUS.Methods One hundred and forty one patients with gastric cancer proved by endoscopic biopsy underwent DCUS examination and were enrolled in this study,and they were divided into metastatic group(M1:22 cases) and non-metastatic group(M1:119 cases) according to whether with the liver metastasis or not.The DCUS quantitative analysis results of these two groups were compared with each other.Results There was no significant difference in arrival time(AT) and time to peak(TTP) between M1 and M0 group(P>0.05).The peak intensity(PI) and enhanced intensity(EI) of the gastric cancer tissues in M1 group was higher than that in M0 group significantly [PI:(25.61±3.33) dB vs.(21.51±4.14) dB,t＝5.106,P＝0.000;EI:(24.80±3.58) dB vs.(19.26±5.65) dB,t＝6.107,P＝0.000]analyzed by using autotracking contrast quantification (ACQ) software.Conclusions DCUS with quantitative analysis could be considered as a new method to predict liver metastasis in patients with gastric cancer.

On the 3D Virtuoso workstation, source images were uploaded to create a 3DCT volume block that was then processed with volume rendering technology (VA30C) to achieve virtual-reality endoscopy (VE), clipped volume block (CVB), and ray sum (RS). After the above scanning, all the patients were examined by a two-phase enhanced spiral CT (2DCT). The visualization, manifestation, and Borrman's classification of lesions in VE, CVB, RS, and 2DCT were evaluated and correlated with gastroscopic, surgical, and pathological findings. Respiratory artifact and gastric residue were also observed. RESULTS:(1) CVB showed the excellent visualization in 88.9% of cases, in contrast to VE and RS (50.0% and 38.9%) (P < 0.01). (2) The accuracy in evaluating mucous membrane, ulceration, lumen, wall, cardia, pylorus, and extension of the tumor were more than 90.0% except mucosa by RS (84.4%) and ulceration by VE (87.5%) or RS (81.6%) which was significantly different from CVB (96.0%) and 2DCT (96.1%) (P < 0.05). VE demonstrated an accuracy of 95.8% in diagnosis of mucosal abnormality. (3) The correct Borrman's classification was obtained in 83.3% cases by VE, 79.6% by CVB, 72.2% by RS, 88.9% by 2DCT and 85.2% by 3DCT with significant difference between 2DCT and RS (P < 0.05), but not between 3DCT and 2DCT (P > 0.05). (4) In addition to 2DCT which had no step-like artifacts, they were invisible in 53.7% of VE, 40.7% of CVB, and 81.5% of RS, with RS showing the least artifacts among 3DCT (P < 0.01). A few of gastric residues caused by pre-scanning intake of water to swallow effervescent agent could be found on 3DCT images which caused no evident influence on diagnosis. CONCLUSION:Additional information on the diagnosis of AGC can be obtained by use of 3DCT, especially the visualization of a lesion in clipped volume block and the observation of mucosa in virtual-reality endoscopy.
Prospective Comparison of Oral Contrast-Enhanced Transabdominal Ultrasound Imaging With Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography in Pre-operative Tumor Staging of Gastric Cancer

Abstract:The aim of this prospective study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of oral contrast-enhanced transabdominal ultrasound imaging (OCTU) with that of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) for the pre-operative tumor staging of gastric cancer, with post-operative pathology as the standard. We included 108 cases of gastric cancer with simultaneous OCTU and enhanced CT pre-operative tumor staging diagnoses. Results were compared with post-operative pathology based on the eighth edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer tumor–node–metastasis staging guidelines for gastric cancer. The accuracy of each tumor stage was obtained by comparing OCTU and enhanced CT diagnoses with post-operative pathology. The McNemar test was used to compare the overall accuracy of the two methods. There was no statistical difference in accuracy between OCTU (72.2%) and enhanced CT (75.9%, p = 0.644) for overall pre-operative tumor staging diagnosis. For stages T1 to T4, the accuracy rates of OCTU were 84.2%, 81.8%, 69.4% and 65.5%, respectively, and those for enhanced CT were 52.6%, 72.7%, 87.8% and 72.4%, respectively. OCTU is comparable to enhanced CT in the preoperative overall T-stage diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Preoperative Staging of Colorectal Carcinoma Using Fat-Dense Contrast Medium Enema and Helical CT

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the role of preoperative staging of colorectal carcinoma using fat dense contrast medium enema and helical CT. Methods Twenty nine patients with known or suspected colorectal carcinoma underwent enhanced helical CT, from the dome of the diaphragm to symphysis pubica, after bowel cleaning, administration of smooth muscle relaxant, and rectal fat dense contrast agent insufflation. Colonoscopies were performed on all patients. All patients were treated with surgery, and the findings of helical CT were compared with histopathological results for staging. Results The overall accuracy rate of helical CT of staging with the modified Dukes' classification was 65.6% (19/29). The accuracy rate of stage B and stage C were 75% (9/12)and 63.6% (7/11), respectively. Sensitivity and specificity for serosal infiltration were 92% (23/25)and 50% (2/4), respectively. Sensitivity and specificity for lymph node involvement were 60% (12/20)and 90% (9/10), respectively. Conclusion CT is useful to assess the serosal infiltration, lymph node involvement and distant metastasis with fat dense contrast medium enema and helical scanning, and playing a significant role in preoperative staging of colorectal carcinoma.

Abstract:In recent years, the incidence of esophagogastric junction cancer has increased year by year. It is a special type of gastric cancer, with 80% of patients being clinically in the middle and late stages. The traditional treatment methods are extremely ineffective, and the accuracy of preoperative staging is not good enough. At present, the medical treatment for esophagogastric junction cancer mainly adopts surgery and postoperative adjuvant therapy. The current mainstream clinical diagnostic methods of esophagogastric junction cancer before concurrent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy are X-ray, CT examination, and gastroscopic diagnosis. However, these clinical diagnostic methods have many limitations. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) can accurately locate malignant tumors in the digestive tract, surrounding microstructures. It can diagnose lymphatic metastasis so as to provide a clear imaging basis for neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. This method can also effectively improve the prognosis of the esophagus and stomach according to the characteristics of the patient. In this experiment, we conducted a controlled trial on patients with stage III esophagogastric junction cancer, divided into an experimental group (neoadjuvant chemotherapy + surgery) and a control group (conventional surgery). The preoperative EUS staging in the control group, the preoperative EUS staging in the neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy group, and the postoperative pathological staging were compared. The experiment showed that in the control group, the preoperative and postoperative accuracy of EUS was 89.2%, while the preoperative and postoperative accuracy of CT examination was only 62.5%. In the experimental group, the preoperative and postoperative accuracies of EUS and CT were 79.6% and 56.7%, respectively. EUS has both specificity and accuracy due to CT examination. Through studying EUS technology in the staging and diagnosis of esophagogastric junction cancer, the therapeutic effect of esophagogastric junction cancer can be improved. The prognosis of esophagogastric junction cancer can also be improved.
The Application of SCT in Diagnosing Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To analyze the contrast enhanced Spiral CT findings of gastric carcinoma, and to evaluate retrospectively SCT in detection of gastric carcinoma.Methods SCT was performed in 61 patients with gastric carcinoma who were confirmed by gastroscope.CT images were analyzed and results of 51 patients were correlated with the pathologic findings.Results The manifestation of gastric carcinoma included local,extensive thickening of the gastric wall or the mass formation. All cases were marked by the contrast enhancement of SCT in the gastric wall.Conclusion Although X-ray barium meal is the best way to detect gastric carcinoma,contrast enhanced SCT scanning can evaluate the staging of gastric carcinoma correctly.Furthermore,this SCT is an useful guide for choosing between tumor resection and nonoperative treatment of patient.
