Comparative Study of the Effect of Triazolam vs Zaleplon on Cognitive Function of Healthy Vol-unteers

Abstract:[Objective]To explore the effect of short-acting hypnotics triazolam vs zaleplon on cognitive function of healthy volunteers .[Methods]Thirty healthy volunteers were randomly divided into two groups taking oral single dose of zaleplon 10mg or triazolam 0 .25mg ,respectively .Cognitive function was tested 1h before and after taking zaleplon or 1 .5h ,3h and 6h after taking triazolam .There was a 7-day interval as washout period in which another drug was given alternately .The same test of cognitive function was performed again .[Results]There were significant differences in error value ,reaction time and combination reaction time of continuous performance test (CPT ) in zale-plon group and triazolam group between 1h or 1 .5h after administration and before administration ( P<0 .05) .There were significant differences in error value ,missing report value and reaction time in zaleplon group at 1 .5h after ad-ministration( P<0 .05) .There were significant differences in CPT reaction time between zaleplon group at 1h after administration and triazolam group at 1 .5h after administration(P<0 .05) ,and there was also significant difference between two groups at 3h after administration( P<0 .05) .[Conclusion]Both triazolam and zaleplon administrated in waking state at daytime can affect the attention of the subjects .The impact of triazolam on the attention is more seri-ous ,and the duration is longer .
