CT and electrolaryngendoscope in T-stage of laryngeal cancer

Abstract:Objective To explore the value of CT and electrolaryngendoscope in the T-staging of laryngeal cancer. Methods Twenty-six cases of laryngeal cancer proved pathologically were examined by CT and electrolaryngendoscope before operation. The findings were analyzed and compared with pathology in details. Results There were 7 supraglottic cancers,12 glottic cancers, 2 subglottic cancers and 5 transglottic cancers. Operation and pathology confirmed 1 case as tumor in site. There were 6 in T_1, 6 in T_2, 2 in T_3 and 11 in T_4. The accurate rate of the electrolaryngendoscope and CT to T_1 and T_2 stage was 80% and 69.2%, while to T_3 and T_4 stage was 23.1% and 84.6%, respectively. The accurate rate of CT combined with electrolaryngendoscope of T stage was 88.5%. Conclusion CT combined with electrolaryngendoscope is valuable in the T staging of laryngeal cancer before operation.
