Analysis on the mental health and the factors of the new PAPF recruits

Abstract:Objective To understand their mental health and the factors, and provide scientific evidence for psychological education. Methods A survey adopted with the Military Disorders Predictive Scale was performed on 556 new recruits. The results was compared with norms of other armies and analyzed by logistic regression. Results The detection rate of mental illness in the new recruits was 14.92%. The soldier’s mental illness prediction questionnaire score was lower than norms of other armies ,P <0.05. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated nine factors, including psychosis, depression, introverted, stressor, unhealthy defense mechanism, growing experience, personality disturbance, neurosis, and singleton. All the nine factors were processed in the regression model which carried and the model statistical significance ,P <0.001. Conclusion The result reflected a lower mental health level in the new recruits. Psychosis, depression, introverted, stressor, unhealthy defense mechanism, growing experience, personality disturbance, neurosis, and singleton are considered as major influencing factors.
