Abstract:Objective To explore the relevant knowledge and cognition of clinical nurses regarding deep vein thrombosis(DVT),and to provide guidance for clinical nursing. Methods A total of 246 clinical nurses were selected in this study using random sampling method. The lower extremity DVT-related knowledge(basic knowledge, high risk factors, and prevention and nursing knowledge) and nursing situation(48 departments) were investigated using the self-designed questionnaire. Results Among the 48 departments, the criterion for DVT prevention was established in 3(6.25%).Totally 246 questionnaires were sent and 226 valid questionnaires were returned.Among the 226 nurses,179(79.20%) did not fully master the basic knowledge,202(89.38%) did not sufficiently recognize the risk factors, and 153(67.70%) did not fully understand the nursing measures. The overall score of questionnaire was 39.62±12.46.There were significant differences among nurses with different titles, education background and working years in the scores of risk factors and nursing knowledge,as well as in the total scores(P<0.05),but not in the scores of basic knowledge(P>0.05).In addition, the differences in the scores of relevant knowledge were significant between trained and untrained nurses(P>0.05).Conclusion Clinical nurses have realized the importance of DVT prevention, and the basic prevention and quality improvement have been carried out well. However, the standardized guidelines of physical prophylaxis, risk assessment and report system of DVT have not been provided, and nurses still lack the relevant knowledge about lower extremity DVT.Clinical nurses should pay attention to the role of foreseeability and high quality nursing care for reducing the incidence of DVT.
