Prevention and Treatment on Alcoholic Fatty Liver by Essentiale

Abstract:Objective To study the prevention effect of Essentiale on alcohclic fatty liver in rats. Methods Sixty-six wistar male rats were randomly divided into four groups: model group(group l, intragastric infusion of spirits by the dose of 15 ml/kg, fed with high fat and iron diet), treatment groups(group 2～3, intragastric infusion of spirits by the dose of 15 ml/kg, fed with high fat and iron diet), Control group(group 4, intragastric infusion of saline by the dose of 15 ml/kg, fed with ordinary diet). Among the treatment groups: group 2 were injected with Essentiale(10 mg/kg),while group 3 were treated with Essentiale according to 30 mg/kg All rats were administrated once a day. And by the end of the 4th week, all rats were weighted, and sacrificed. SOD, MDA,and GSH-Px of the plasm, and SOD, MDA, GSH-Px, and ATPase of the liver homogenate were measured respectively. Results In the model group: the classic AFL lesions were seen in the hepatocyte. While slight fatty liver as observed in the 2nd group. Slight fatty deposition was only observed in the 3rd group. The structure of the hepatocytes was normal in the 4th group.Compared with the 1st group, SOD, MDA, GSH-Px of the plasm and SOD, MDA, GSH-Px, ATPase of the liver Homogenate in group 2 to 4 were statistically different(P0.05).The differences of the above index between 2nd, 3rd and 4th were significant(P0.05). Conclusion Essentiale can prevent the formation of the AFL. And the effect was dose-dependent.
