Abstract:Aeumulative evidences indicate the anbolie effects of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide(GIP) in the fat metabolism, including stimulation of glucose uptake, lipoprotein lipase activity, fatty acid synthesis and incorporation into adipose tissue. Meanwhile, GIP inhibits both glucagon- and isoproterenol-induced lipelysis, thereby further favouring deposition rather than mobilisation of fat stores. Consistent with these various observations, chronic inhibition of GIP signal transduction can significantly improve the blood glucose and decrease body weight of obese animal models. In addition, it provides a protection from diet-induced obesity. And this may provide us a new approach for the prevention and treatment of obesity and diabetes mellitus.
